oh and in soulsilver i didnt have to make a pokegen file

ok, ive used the pokemon selector perfectly with my soulsilver, but when i put in the DNS code (correctly) choose my pokemon and stats ect, then go into the b/w GTS it doesnt work. what do i have to do to make it work??
