Pokerus is a completely positive thing, despite being a virus. You have a very rare chance of encountering it in the wild and your pokemon contracting it. When contracted, your pokemon earn double the EV's from battle. After a few days of being in your party, when the gameclock rolls over to midnight your pokemon will become cured/immune to it. They will never again contract pokerus after being cured.
