  1. Hey I'm having a bit of trouble, I have patched a fresh ROM and made a copy of my save file with the same name but in game my Pokemon I have previously received or caught still have the Japanese name but then every other Pokemon has a English names.

Please don't tell me I have to start a new game every time a patch comes out to get English names or is there a name changer person that lets you fit more than 5 characters (if not that would be nice to patch  )

The problem here (I think) is that the pokemon you have caught have their jap name due to that being their name in the save file, whereas the translation effects the ROM only. So what you have (in a sort of way) is the pokemon with nicknames; I imagine the name-rater guy, wherever he is, will fix that for you.

Otherwise you're stuck with Jap + Eng names for the time being :/.

  2. Thanks for the new codes guys, im gonna see if using the wild pokemon modifier, then the ev iv nature and bility mods allow a pokemon on wifi:

    --

Can any capable hackers do a little investigating into what wifi is checking for when you try to random battle?

I took a clean pokemon, and opened it in pokesav, only edited its iv's then refreshed its stats so they were proper, then saved

try to go on wifi with it, and got the 'There was a problem with your pokemon, you can't participate' message

I assume pokesav is rearranging ssome checksum on the pokemon that wifi specifically looks at, seeing as how all i did was change his IV's.

Well 'just changing' the IVs is really a big thing. If you've not changed the PID to correspond with the IVs, ability nature gender etc etc, then the pokemon will be illegal.

At this moment, I don't think there is any way to create a legal PID as we don't know how B/W creates the PIDs and what not. It may or may not be the same as D/Pt/HG/SS.

However, if you're using pokesav once you create the IVs, there's a PID generate button or something similar (it's been a while since I've used it) so open that up, and find the corresponding algorithm to what it is that you want (it should say something like |Adamant|Male|Ability2|_Number_| Just chose the one that matches what you're looking for.)

  3. Okay guys, so I have xdelta UI and when I use it, it asks me for patch file, source file and output file. So I try the patch file, patch file in the source file box and pokemon white in output. That gives me an error, so I try pokemon white in source file box and pokemon white in output...nothing

Am I doing something wrong? I know the original post says i SHOULD have xdelta gui by now... but I couldn't find it online anywhere, the closest I got were .tar.gz files that I can't open. Help?

I believe you are in the same boat as me :P.

  4. "CONFIRMED Breeding a Dream World female parent with any male parent (but not vice versa) has a chance of giving the offspring its respective Dream World Ability. It is unknown whether Ditto counts as the female for this purpose, and we won't know until DW Ditto is released."

    Woo hoo :D.

But yeah... ditto is .. scary. Who'd a thunk it.

I believe there was an argument about 'a level 1 Groudon would still be Uber due to inf' weather' or something like that? :/

I really hope Ninetales and Politoed don't get the boot. They won't be able to cope in Ubers. However, a pokemon isn't classed uber by its strength in ubers, so who knows; I may just get sick of the sight of them xD.

I'm feeling a lot more optimistic about it all I must say. I've been looking at a lot of the new toys given; egg moves and such... and well I gotta say it's looking good :P. For instance, wraith pointed out to me how Arcanine now gets Close combat ... Aint that something! Combine that with this Justice heart ability and you have yourself a lovely little Ttar counter - hell an-anything-that-uses-a-dark-attack counter. It also gets wild jolt to eliminate those pesky waters As well as maintaining extreme speed and flare blitz.

As to be expected it can get nitro charge too, I think some sort of set with that could be put together quite nicely. With an adamant nature and + 1 speed that's 350 atk/ 433 Speed, slap on morning sun Close combat and a filler and you're good to go. Hell something like Morning/Nitro Charge/Fire Blast/Close Combat could work. Just theorymonning, I know xD, but still, things are looking up :P.

    What else have we got...

Oh yeah politoed gets endeavor too xD. So whilst setting up rain, it could run Endure/Endeavor/Body Slam/Surf @ salac berry, to maybe some use. Gimmicky? Maybe... But I wouldn't mind seeing how it works. It would only hit 393 speed, however, so aero leads don't have to worry just yet (but that's why body slam is on the set, Body slam on the taunt, if para hits then finish it with surf :D) And in that situation, it would retain the salac berry and be able to endeavor some later on :D.

    Oh...

And the age of stealth rock has fallen folks. As with it, suicide leads will probably fall too. Two things have caused this, No SR TM, and the mischievous heart ability. Non attacking moves get priority here; Leparsudu gets this ability as well as taunt, not to mention Erufuun can use this ability + sleep powder.

Leparasudu: Fake Out/Taunt/Thunderwave(Yawn)/_Filler_ (Protect/Sub/Charm/Fake Tears/Rain Dance/ Sunny Day[<- for if Toed + Tales get the boot]) Sounds like it could be a great lead :D.

I mean people will still want to use SR leads and the like, but coming up against something like that will severely hinder their use.

There's a lot of cool new toys floating around for sure at this point. The viability might be questionable; but I sure as hell want to try it out :D.

  5. Okay I'm using DeSmuME and the order for Evs is:

    Hp

    Attack

    Defense

    Speed

    Special Attack

    Special Defense

The thing is that the Speed EV is bugged. Instead of elevating the stat it lowers it as well as the Special Attack and Special Defense stat. I have no idea if it's just me or if anyone else is experiencing this. I also don't use any other codes when I use this one.

    Edit:

On a side note, the Nature Modifier does not work at all on DeSmuME

In regards to it lowering a certain stat; it could possibly be due to it removing any existing EVs. If you put a spread like 00/FC/00/FC/00/00, then any pre existing EVs will be wiped in the '00' stats.

That's the only thing I can think of anyway.

  6. Are you sure about that?

Now, I understand. The EV order is:

    1. Hp

    2. Atk

    3. Def

    4. Spd

    5. Sp Atk

    6. Sp Def

    Because...

EDIT4- I just confirmed using a japanese translation guide on smogon that the order the stats show in-game are infact

    HP

    Atk

    Def

    Sp.Atk

    Sp.Def

    Speed

But if you're right then Riolu needs to edit his post :P.

  7. Welcome to the site :)

    Just for clarification that thread's Freespirit's; I just thought I'd help a little :D.

I'm not really much use with AR other than making pokemon and what not so I'd be the wrong guy to come to outside of that xD.

any who, nice to meet you and I hope you enjoy your stay.

  8. Hi Dani, welcome to the site :D.

It's always nice to see more long-time players joining.

As you probably already know from your 4 months of lurking, we have a cool competitive battling section, so reading through some of the stuff there may help your progress with strategies and other such like. But with the 5th generation upon on us all the stuff their might be rendered garbage in less than a week anyhow :P.

Enjoy your stay and feel free to ask if you need help with anything :).

  9. What I hate (my opinion):

    Family Guy

    South Park

Most of the comedies and stuff hosted on Comedy Central

Sports, Wrestling, etc (kinda boring to watch... makes me want to just actually be out there and participate in it myself)

Trash they put on Disney channel... Disney has lost their magic

Wow, you listed most of my favourite shows right there xD

... I too hate the Disney Channel so at least we share that in common lol.

For Fifth gen pokes you'll have to count up yourself.

    E.g Victini is 1EE

    Tsutarja is 1EF

Note: Just like the other Wild modifier code it will freeze on some pokes, so save before.

Also in regards to the hex posted above, as the other pokemon's new forms are different (such as rotom) they may have their own number, if this is the case you may need to add that number on to the number that you use. But that may not be the case, so just giving you a heads up lol.

    (Eg. Arceus could = 1F3)

Crown Beasts - Credits to me, but if they fail iit was some dude on the street and not me.

Need testing so save before hand

As a pre-caution measure use one at a time

  13. its pointless in us looking at the translation guide, when Kazo and Karooso is making a translation patch for on the actually rom itself, and he has images to prove it also

If you're on about the previous post then that is a little resource for the translators to actually use should they get stuck anywhere.

If you're on about the OP then that is for other people to contribute to the translation should they have the know how.

So while it may be pointless to you, it's not pointless in the slightest.

Anyway, I'm really surprised with the speed that this moving :o. Keep it up and you'll be done in no time haha :D

  14. brokeny.png

Typing: Electric (reference to how so many stuff in this gen looks like they're from water but they don't possess that typing... like that eel or flatfish)

    Ability: Levitate (no weaknesses... > : ) )

    HP: 150

    Attack: 111

    Defense: 130

    SpA: 155 <-- 1 point above Mewtwo's SpA

    SpDef: 110

Speed: 181 <--- 1 point above Deoxys-S, the fastest Pokemon in the game

Someone put this on our server NAO.

  15. Hey great idea :D.

My only suggestion would be letting us know where you've gotten the names from for the new moves (I know one place has called a TM "Retaliation Even" While somewhere else it's "Get Even") so that we all know what we're looking for.

And don't bog yourselves down with the story, just get the moves and items done. :D

Best of luck with it, I can't provide anything other than support and ata-boys xP.

  16. Hey I've been playing the game, and I absolutely love it. The thing is the pokemon, IMO, fail. Most by looks, others due to lazy stat distribution and others just because ... well look at that thing that looks like a regurgitated Smeargle and tell me it isn't fail xD.

As for things not being broken ... there's a 180 BP move that has the drawback of 'hurts allies'... Come on man, that's broken no matter how you look at it. Though I will give you that if everything is broken then nothing is, and the ones that are less broken will merely fall to UU, like we've seen in every generation.

Hell this generation has really just thrown a cat amongst the pigeons ... or whatever the saying is, it's done that!

Things will balance out for sure and it might even reach a nice balanced place, but skin deep, it all just looks broken; only time will tell though.

    Edit:

As for appreciating that they gave us the games, I would happily let them do a recall and work an extra 6 months on the game to give me some better designs and better thought out stat distributions xD.
