  1. Converting saves like that are kinda difficult. Usually it'd be better to just move boxes and player data over and complete the storyline as is (or use someone else's save as a template). The problem lies within the flags that are used separated in each version and do not necessarily have a direct counterpart when switching.

  2. Just expanding for completion's sake:

There are flashcarts such as the R4i that cost less than 20$ that can have an edited game injected onto them. They also can run other homebrew applications.

The flashcarts are generally considered safe to use and do not affect the system. Certain brands do work on the 3DS, especially new R4i models.

I'm going to move this thread over to the Flashcart subforum, but feel free to ask us any more questions.

  3. The closed poll says that the Giratina should be shiny... so why isn't it? Or does it change when caught by means of ultimate #4><0RY

Because it was never implemented to be shiny. I think the poll was closed when Roland realized that you can't force a shiny encounter easily in Pt.

  4. Are the trade mods of the four default in-game trades? Also, do the event items you get from them working? I worry because Origin Platinum had a similar system where some people would straight up give it to you, like the old man that give you the Secret Key. When in Origin Platinum, though, the Secret Key did straight-up nothing. Completely worthless. So I say again, do your event items work and are they from the default IGTs

The items do work here. Of course, they are not from the normal in-game trades; they are modified to have the items. There is a chance that the other hack did not include the appropriate flags that needed to be set, because some flags do need to be set for certain events to work (not just having the item).

  5. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The gateway cart is required for playing the edited ROMs. Gateway itself requires firmware no greater than 9.2 in order to launch the exploits it needs to get running. (You can think of it like Nintendo blocked Gateway from working on later systems).

  6. Yeah, you can think of the Gateway as some sort of blank cart. http://www.gateway-3ds.com/

It is a homebrew and edited game enabler as well. With it, you can create a separated NAND partition (which allows you to run games at any firmware) and also allows any kind of game to run (which is important, because actual games require a valid signature that cannot be produced by anyone but Nintendo, and as soon as a game is edited, that signature becomes invalid.

  7. Now. With this hack. Do I have to put this onto my 3DS SD card? Since It's a rar file. I mean. I don't have Winrar. Anymore. But. I used to though

Download 7zip and never have to deal with winrar again. The archive has an executable patcher which runs against an unpacked ROM directory. The ROM can be rebuilt again as a .3DS (RedCard) or a .CIA (SD Card for a CIA installer). This requires a Gateway!
