Rikiyu
I have downloaded the pokesav for HG/SS, but whenever I try to edit a pokemon, it has all the different regions (i.e. Johto (HeartGold) and Johto (Soul Silver)) but when I choose those, it still on has D/P/Pt areas, routes, and towns, so my pokemon looks totally illegitimate, or I could do the alternative, and make it look like I transferred from my Pearl cart... But when I do that, the pokemon doesn't obey me as I am still early in the game. It is not a big problem now, but later when I want to play online, it will be trouble if someone wants to check it out. Help would be much appreciated. ~Rikiyu
Tbird
Yup. The HG/SS Pokesav is basically just a straight rip from the DPt pokesav. In order to get legal pokemon, you must set the place met as faraway place and mess around with the hidden values. I'll give you a guide to hidden values in just a sec. Here it is: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?218-~Guide-to-44h-45h-46h-47h-and-85h-Values~
Codr
I don't understand why people who are, presumably, aware of a better alternative promote a pointlessly "complicated" method still. Rikiyu, check my signature for a program to make the whole process easier.

Rikiyu
Okay, I'm just getting rid of that ridiculous, embarrassing message, and replacing it with another question; I put the code generated into the ARDS on no$gba, and I pressed the buttons designated to L+R (The ones I have chosen to create it) but it stays the same. Does this only work for creating pokemon or can it simply edit an already created one? Edited June 13, 2010 by Rikiyu I'm a retard.
Guest
Why not just directly edit the save if you're going to use cheats anyway? English HG/SS Pokesav is a translation. You can use it to edit saves from other regions games, since they're mutually compatible, but the ARDS output is for the Japanese games. The HG/SS Pokesav is basically just a straight rip from the DPt pokesav. In order to get legal pokemon, you must set the place met as faraway place and mess around with the hidden values. You'd need to do this anyway even if the Johto locations were in the drop-down list.

Does this only work for creating pokemon or can it simply edit an already created one? If it stays the same, you're either doing something wrong or not using the right codes for the ROM you have. AR codes just overwrite any data that's there already, so it'll both create new Pokemon and overwrite existing ones.
Rikiyu
Okay, so, I think I'm just going to make it look like they came from my Pearl cart, and figure out the hexadecimal calculations later when I have all the badges. For now I'll just keep them as they are, and make them illegitimate-looking. Sorry if this was a bit of a time waster for you guys, and, nice program Codr, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I'll figure something out anyway.
Codr
nice program Codr, but it doesn't seem to work for me I'd appreciate it if you could explain. If there's something wrong with it, it can be fixed.
Rikiyu
It's not the program, it's just me. Everything works fine up to the point where I generate it, I get the code and the .pkm, but that's as far as it gets for me. I'm going to try just create a new pokemon, because right now, I'm trying to just edit one created through pokesav that has a few sketchy details.
