AncientZero Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hey guys! I'm pretty content about how far I am in SoulSilver. I have now decided to learn how to use the PokeSav, however, I'm confused on a few parts. Mind you, I'm just experimenting, so not really asking for a request. If anything, I would like to learn to be complacent with PokeSav by myself. 1- Err, alright...so, what's the purpose of Secret ID? I left mine at 0. A friend of mine assumed it has to do with the move, Hidden Power. Is that true? 2- Can I make my playtime anything? Does it really matter if I....like, fast-forward 10 hours from current playtime on my DS? 3- Is there a reason why every Bag item is defaulted at 995, but the TM&HM is at 95? 4- Alright, for my first Pokemon edit, I want to make a typical special sweeper Mewtwo with the move, Psycho Boost for kicks. I read on the site that it is best to edit Pokemon through the storage system which is what I did. I left the party section of the Main screen of the PokeSav blank and went to the storage system. I'm on box 18 with the box name, Legendary. I set up the legend wallpaper, and my first Pokemon is Mewtwo. I filled most of the stuff in the editor, but I'm stuck on a few things: -Secret ID, although, question 1 asks that. -Don't understand what Marking is... -Met at Level, Met at Place, and the drop down below the Met at Place. Mewtwo's a legendary, so I'm really unsure how to approach this section. Legendary can't be hatched, right? -Date Met....does this matter? Can I make it whatever? -Hidden Hex Values. I checked the stuff under PokeSav information on the site, but it seems it's more correlated towards D/P. Is HGSS different? -the whole egg received and hatched. Again, this is for Mewtwo. :\ Sorry for asking so much, but essentially, this is all that confuses me. The rest I kinda got by myself. I know my approach is very "newbish". I apologize again for that, but there's no better way to confront. I'd really appreciate if someone takes the time to answer. mewtwo_01.pkm
RyuuShin Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Hey guys! I'm pretty content about how far I am in SoulSilver. If anything, I would like to learn to be complacent with PokeSav by myself. 1- Err, alright...so, what's the purpose of Secret ID? I left mine at 0. A friend of mine assumed it has to do with the move, Hidden Power. Is that true? The Secret ID helps to seperate you from players who randomly got the same Trainer ID as you. Pokemon without your correct secret ID aren recogniced as your own. You can find yout your secret ID with Flascards and or Action Replay (there are also legit ways but its slower). And it has nothing to do with Hidden Power. Hidden Powers Strengh and Typr are set by the IVs 2- Can I make my playtime anything? Does it really matter if I....like, fast-forward 10 hours from current playtime on my DS? Pokesav allows you to make your playtime to anything you want. But you may want to imput a logical value. For example if you startet the game yesterday you can logically not have 60 hours played. 3- Is there a reason why every Bag item is defaulted at 995, but the TM&HM is at 95? I never thought about that and it honestly doesent matter. Most likely there are max values set there. I filled most of the stuff in the editor, but I'm stuck on a few things: -Secret ID, although, question 1 asks that. Find out your Secret ID -Don't understand what Marking is... You can mark pokemon in your boxes ingame. The marks are stars or circles. It doesent matter leave it unchecked. -Met at Level, Met at Place, and the drop down below the Met at Place. Mewtwo's a legendary, so I'm really unsure how to approach this section. Legendary can't be hatched, right? Find out were and on which lvl Mewtwo can be found. -Date Met....does this matter? Can I make it whatever? Input a logical one. Event pokemon normaly have the Date when teir event was for example -Hidden Hex Values. I checked the stuff under PokeSav information on the site, but it seems it's more correlated towards D/P. Is HGSS different? Yes HG/SS uses more Vales than the others also Platin uses mire than D/P -the whole egg received and hatched. Again, this is for Mewtwo. :\ Leave it unchecked. Sorry for asking so much, but essentially, this is all that confuses me. The rest I kinda got by myself. I know my approach is very "newbish". I created a mewtwo pkm fiel where you yust need to fill in your ID/SID Name gender and Version you play. Please note that changing the Ivs will make the Mewtwo illegal. And you can trust me if i tell you Psych up is a bad move most of the time. mewtwo.pkm Edited May 15, 2010 by RyuuShin
AncientZero Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 You mean, I can't have Mewtwo have all 31 IVs? If you don't mind, can you explain why so? Also, I noticed you kept Mewtwo's level at 65 but met at 70. I understand the reason why you did that, caues you normally meet Mewtwo at 70 in-game, but...keeping him at a lower level won't mess anything up?
CNash Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 It won't mess anything up, the game is very accommodating of most superficial hacks like that, but it's very easy to spot that it's a fake - as you say, Mewtwo can't be legitimately lower than level 70. Yes, you can make Mewtwo have all 31 IVs if you want. You just have to make sure to generate a PID for it that matches its nature, IVs and ability. Note that some IV/Nature/Gender/Ability combinations simply don't exist, so you might not be able to get exactly what you want. Pokésav contains a PID generator, or you can use the PID/IV Checker program (download it from this site's main page). As for "Met at place" - to get this to read correctly for Mewtwo (AFAIK), set it to 3002 - Farawayplace and then change the hex value 46h to C7 and it'll read "Cerulean Cave", where it's normally encountered. And don't put anything in "Egg Hatched"; legendaries can't be eggs.
AncientZero Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Ah, I gotcha. Well, considering I'm teaching this Mewtwo Psycho Boost, a signature attack of Deoxys, it'll be obvious anyways, lol. But thanks for clearing it up. This Mewtwo is just for kicks. I just wanna surprise my friend in a friendly battle when I throw out one Pokemon, and it's a Mewtwo that''s got the strongest Psychic attack, lol. To be honest, I'll probably have no use of this Mewtwo afterward and just create a normal Mewtwo. As for the PID/IV checker, thanks. I'm going to Dl it now and figure stuff up. Thanks CNash and RyuuShin. Might be back with more questions.
AncientZero Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Sorry for double posting, but probably my last question regarding this Mewtwo...do you set the 85h to anything?
CNash Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 As Mewtwo is caught in a cave, set 85h to 05. Usually I don't touch 85h, because most of my hacks are set as hatched rather than caught (it makes it easier to pass Legal) and the code for a hatched pokémon is 00.
AncientZero Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Okay, I'm back. However, I currently do not have a question about the PokeSav, but rather, the ARDS. My question is that on the site, it says: "Pokesav will export all the necessary Action Replay codes as an XML file. Import this file into the Action Replay Code Manager and transfer the codes to your ARDS. Now run the codes with Pokemon Diamond or Pearl. Pressing L+R will activate the codes." My question is, I have the .XML file created by PokeSav. Now, how do I import it into the ARDS and run the code? :\ Thanks in Advance!
