How do I know if a cartridge is a rom-hack?

What's the easiest way to tell? I am suspicious of this current one to say the least

Where did you buy it from? What stands out from regular titles? If you dump the ROM (don’t share it here) I’m sure you can compare the MD5 to retail titles of the same revision.

I don't have a way to dump the rom. I got it on ebay. I know its a repro cart because it's way too cheap to be a real pokemon cart from that era.

Well then the next best thing is to play the game and note if anything odd occurs outside of gameplay you've seen.
