Trouble opening 3DS Pokemon save files

Hello everybody, please move this thread if it's not in the right forum.

I'm having trouble opening my 3DS game save files in PKHex as when I try it states that the save file is too big. I've tried dumping save files to my PC from both Pokemon Y and Ultra Sun (both physical copies played in a 3DS) using both an ACTION REPLAY POWER SAVES PRO (which generates a .bin file) and R4i SAVE DONGLE (which generates a .sva file). I've done the same for DS games and had no issues whatsoever.

For both games the file created is around 1MB which when tried to be opened in PKHex I get an error message saying the file is too big.

Any way to solve this?

Powersaves does not back up your save file, neither does R4i.

Use homebrew to dump your save file correctly.
