Save file reverting when I boot without cfw.

I am trying to edit my violet save file to have all non-key items and then play the save normally. I used JKSV to pull my save, edited it in pkhex, put it back onto my switch and booted it fine and all my changes were there. But when I boot the switch without launching cfw my save file goes back to whatever it was before I edited it. Is that normal? Can I not use my edited file without booting it through cfw? If there is a way to permanently save it how do I do it?

sounds like your emunand and sysnand is out of sync.

you can safely launch Sysnand in CFW and extract/replace the save there.
