JLSgolden Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Can someone please explain what exactly this value represents? Now, this might sound dumb at first since it's literally in the name "OT friendship", however, I can't seem to get that value to display correctly based on OT friendship across multiple games. Example: Say I drag and drop a gen 4 PKMN from a gen 4 save into a gen 7 save with said pokemon having 255 friendship in gen 4. In gen 7 however, the value doesnt show me that that was the case and the even weirder thing is that even if I change the value to 255 (or 0, litrerally doesnt matter), PKHEX doesnt flag it as illegal or even fishy so does this value get deleted when I transfer it from Bank to HOME anyway and thats why it doesnt matter in to the programs eyes? Super confused on the legality here
Kaphotics Posted June 4 Posted June 4 OT friendship isn't changed when it is transferred between generations, so it will be the previous game's value. Generations 3-5 used only one byte for Friendship, so it wasn't really only updated by only the original trainer. There's nothing to flag because it can be legally any value; refer to Bulbapedia if you have questions on how game mechanics like Friendship work. Generations 6+ have separate stored values for friendship. Hence why only the currently relevant one is displayed (current friendship depends if the OT is handling, or it was transferred to a new handling trainer that is not the OT). 1

I tested it and it worked exactly like you said, thank you, that was very helpful!
