qazniak Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I want to use a moxie gyarados on my team, but I can't create one on PkHaX. I have illegal mode on and everything. It works when I generate the gyarados with intimidate or wonder guard or pretty much any other ability. However, when I attempt to input Moxie, it doesn't even appear in the list of abilities despite the ability being in the game's code(on the Renegade Platinum wiki, it says gyarados can have moxie). After digging around some more, I realized that PkHaX recognizes the ROM as Platinum, and thus won't let me add gen V abilities. Is there a way around this, or do I have to get a legit moxie gyarados? (If I do have to obtain one the legit way, can anyone advise me on how to obtain one?)

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Even after setting this to true, when I try and import one with Moxie, it still doesn't recognize it. The ability just becomes blank
Kaphotics Posted February 18 Posted February 18 PKHeX does not support ROM hacks; especially those that backport future content into older games. If you know the ability ID of Moxie, you can use the Batch Editor to selectively write the Ability to a specific slot in your box. Otherwise, you can devolve it back to Magikarp and evolve it in-game to have it update. For Pokémon with two abilities, the ability it uses is based on the PID being odd (1) or even (0).

Expand Tools->Data->Batch Editor Change your Gyarados species back to Magikarp. If it came with the wrong ability, then change the PID to make it end with an even digit, 1

However, when selecting the view option or when importing it to the game, the ability is simply blank. *sigh* Does this mean I would have to obtain a moxie gyarados the legit way?

Expand If you de evolved but didn't flip the PID as mentioned, then it would receive the same ability when evolving. Moxie's ability ID for regular games is likely not the same as the ability ID used by the ROM hack. You will have to consult the ROM hack's documentation for the correct value.
