Is there something wrong with this Crystal SAV file?

No idea why, but if I manually start a new game and save, then reset, it keeps my progress (as it should). When I use a cart reader and restore another save I have and load the game up, it only gives me "New Game" as an option. My other saves for my other GBC Pokemon games work fine.

 

This is on an official cartridge on OEM hardware.

 

EDIT: Actually, to test, I tried it with this SAV file too and same "New Game" result.....hmmmm
