Pokemon Emerald - Corrupted save file

Hi all,

I've been playing emerald on an ez flash omega and have gotten the message

Quote

"the save file is corrupted. the previous save file will be loaded."

I've been searching around for answers, but it seems the main culprit for most of these messages is a damaged or fake cart. 

I've tried downloading Visual Boy Advance to see if it was just a messed up ez flash cart, but I still get the same message. I haven't used any cheats or anything that I know of that can sometimes corrupt a save and have only been using the "clean boot" option.

I'm not exactly sure on where else to turn to try and salvage my save and am hoping if someone else has the knowledge and time they could help point me in the right direction.
