Justminty Posted May 11 Posted May 11 (edited) Hey! I just dropped in in hopes that maybe someone with a bit of technical know-how might be able to even salvage ONE pokemon from an... Odd save export. The story of how I got here goes as follows: I had just homebrewed my beloved 2DS, and I wished backup my copy of Moon. I had grown up with this save since 2016, and it meant the WORLD to me. So I, foolishly not doing research before charging ahead, made an idiotic decision. I used GODMODE9 instead of checkpoint or JKSM to get it. I had little knowledge on the fact that the save is meant to be.. 431 KB, not 1.005 MB. So I went along, thinking everything was A-ok. 'till I lost my cart that fated day. I had quickly gone to learn that.. It was corrupted, no doubts about it. I booted it up in PKHEX. No luck. I tried to re-export in in JKSM. No files. I tried the partial save fixer. Zero luck. I tried Citra, I tried everything.. And now I'm turning to the web, in hopes someone can salvage even ONE of my beloved friends. TLDR: Godmode9 screwed me over, can't do anything with (now) 1 MB save. I'm now looking for help here in hopes of recovering any scrap of data. Sorry if this post sucks, I'm new here. Kaphotics Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Contents of the attached 1MB file is either encrypted in some unknown format, or is junk. Either way, it's not close to the expected contents of a save file. I doubt you'll recover anything from it unless you ask for help from someone familiar with gm9 and how it may have given you that file originally and if it's something you can reimport. 1
Justminty Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 Oof. I had my hopes up. Thx for trying, dude. I'll try to find the cart somewhere, and pray it's ok. Maybe I can right these wrongs, before we move house.. Of course, just finding the cart will fix EVERYTHING.
Kaphotics Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Checking my notes, I think your file is a raw cartridge backup similar to what a Powersaves device would do -- a rip of the encrypted save data. You'd need to find the original cartridge, as save files are encrypted specific to the cartridge. 1
Justminty Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 (edited) Ofc, I did rip a Pokemon Moon CIA trim from the cart, Betting it won't work tho edit: Found the cart. That'll work. Would make seperate thing but.. Daily post limit Edited May 11 by Justminty I FOUND THE CART. THERE IS NO REASON TO KEEP LOOKING HERE.
