Pokemon Ultra Moon Save Data Corruption

Recommended Posts

Hi all. About a week ago, I was soft resetting for shiny cresselia on my physical version of Ultra Moon when all of a sudden, I get the error message that my save data has been corrupted, seemingly out of the blue. I have soft reset for multiple Pokemon on this file over the past 7 years without issue. I was playing on a homebrewed 3ds - a friend of mine did it for me so I could get themes and such and I didn't know much about the software installed so I hadn't backed up my saves via checkpoint or JKSM. Pretty much instantly I tried viewing the save in Pokémon Bank, nothing, switched to my other non-modded 3ds, same error message and bank also not working. Proceeded to now study 3ds firmware and modifications for the past week, but checkpoint, JKSM and PKSM all do not recognize my save file. On the verge of giving up, I discovered godmode9 which somehow when prompted manages to spit out a .sav file from the cartridge (attached) but sadly PKHeX cannot open the file, giving the message "Invalid save file loaded. Aborting." I know I should've given up but this is my last-ditch effort of at least saving my Pokemon. Does anyone have any idea on how I can get PKHeX to read this file, if there's even anything on it, or any other ideas for that matter. Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm looks like it could work but then again it says:

"This only works for CIA/e-shop version (a.k.a digital copy) of the game.
Does not work for the restoring save back into the cart versions (physical copy) of the games."

So I'm not sure if I should delete my save file to try. I can't install a digital version of the game due to a lack of SD card space either unfortunately.
