Gillilulz Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Hi everyone. So, long story short, I had one little server which I forgot about, hosting some pokemon saves. The server has been hacked by Chekmate ransomware and, while I had a backup of most of the files there, there is one ITA Soul Siver save for which I didn't have a copy. I have been trying to recover it manually and making it playable (the PC box was surprisingly intact after the encryption). I removed some trash bytes here and there and PkHex is able to open it again and no tab displays errors of any sort. I can even successfully import the save in DesMume: However, when I try to continue, the games hangs on a black screen and DesMume laments of an usupported instraction: The emulator is not the problem because I imported with the same settings another save and it correctly proceeds to continue the adventure; probably there are still some things to clean but I don't know what to check. If somebody knows about any solution it would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance! checkmatedSS.sav
theSLAYER Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 I think your best bet is to use hex editing to transfer anything important (such as mons, party, trainer data) to overwrite a fresh save. It isn’t good easy to find what is or isn’t wrong with a file, especially with something you’ve basically cobbled back together..
