Cristal Celebi (problem ball encounter type)

Hi ! I have a problem with the Celebi from crystal.

The mon becomes illegal if I change the ball to a great ball or any gen 2 ball except the poke ball.

However in the game you can catch Celebi with any ball...

So, I don't know what I'm doing wrong... Any help would be much appreciated !

@Thother ball data is not recorded in gens 1 and 2 therefore the Poke Transporter assigns a regular Poke Ball as the ball it was caught in. With that said gen 1 and 2 Pokémon from the VC games can only be in a Poke Ball.
