Question about the QR codes

I've been using PkHex for a while for my gen 3 games but I've decided I wanna transfer a few legal mons to a 3ds I'm getting soon.  I've seen ways if transferring them via the pkhex qr codes and was wondering if they still work? Not for any game in particular as if it works on a specific game I'll get that one. I just want to put my pkhex pokemon into the real games. 

Or if theres any other method of doing it please do let me know. There are methods online but they're confusing and require additional hardware

Gen6: need a vulnerable web browser app installed (low 3DS system firmware)

Gen7: need a special layeredfs patch installed to the exefs

other: none, just used as a way to share data outside the game.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any threads or pages for the gen6 method you proposed?

that's the process, just watch tutorial videos. again, you'll have to have a vulnerable web browser version in order to use it. I'm pretty sure a vulnerable version can be installed with cfw, but that's outside the realm of PKHeX.
