MintMilkshake Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Hello there.I'm planning on hacking my 3DS, but I just need this simple question answered before I proceed: do I need a physical copy of Pokémon SuMo, or can I use a digital one? And another thing, if I install the homebrew on my EUROPEAN 3DS, will I be able to play my AMERICAN Pokémon Sun on it? Thank you so much for the help
Kaphotics Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 physical / digital is fine so long as you have a way to export save files cartridges are only region locked for japanese consoles, I don't believe that there's any region locking EU<->US 1
Guest Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 They'll be technically region-locked because the cartridge contains a region-specific update that causes the update check to fail when you try to run it on an out-of-region 3DS. I want to assume that the region-free loader bypasses the update check entirely, so it should work, but it may still require a certain minimum firmware to run (I'm not sure what the minimum would be, I only have 9.2 and 11.2 and I can tell you it doesn't run on 9.2)
