greatatlas Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I picked up a super cheap 2DS and I was looking for a way to upgrade it to 9.0 so I can use the RAM injection method. It's currently running 8.1.0.19U. I looked around, and it seems like that if you pick up certain games, you can update your system JUST to a specific firmware. That's what I think I'm getting from such posts, but correct me if I'm wrong. According to 3dsdb, Steamworld Dig (the eShop version) requires firmware 9.0.0.0U. Can I log into the eShop, download that game and will the system only be updated to version 9.0U, rather than 10.3U?
Kaphotics Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Better to use custom firmware (cfw) to edit the save file directly, install games/apps like the updated browser that is vulnerable.
Guest Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 The eShop will prompt you to perform a system update when you try to access it anyway, so you can't really do that.
greatatlas Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Well, turns out that either 8.1.0.19 is also vulnerable to the exploit or the web browser on the OR cartridge is just right, despite not being listed. Given everything works just the way it should (plus, sounds like updating would be hard/breaky), I suppose I'll just leave it as is! Thanks for the advice, however!
