megacyber Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Recently, I saw that pkHex was made usable without cybereditor (so I don't have to get a Japanese 3ds and game). I'd like to be able to use pkHex to edit my save file, but I'm not sure whether or not my system, game, etc. are compatible. If someone could tell me whether or not I would be able to use pkHex before I make a monetary investment on a flashcart or similar, I would greatly appreciate it. The serial number on the back of my 3ds is: CW42057860 8. I read on a different forum (I think it was gba temp?) that my serial would correspond to a 4.5 or lower console, but I was hoping to check here to make sure. My 3ds is a regular 3ds (not the XL model) by the way, and is midnight purple. I don't have the box handy, so I can't give any details from that. My copies of Pokemon Y and Alpha Sapphire are both digital. I know that some of the flashcarts out there are capable of decrypting saves from physical cartridges, but I vaguely remember reading before that there was no decryption method for digital saves. If there are any programs that would let me decrypt and re-encrypt my save, that'd be super convenient. Anyways, if someone could get back to me on this stuff, that'd be cool. Thanks in advance
Kaphotics Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Firmware is displayed in the bottom right corner of the Home Menu (iirc). If you've played the Pokemon 3DS games on that console, you are on a higher firmware than 4.5.
