when is difficult to catch a pokemon you can do this simple trick, if you have pokemon silver just press A when throw pokeball, but in D/P or ss/HG when throw pokeball press A in the exact moment that pokeball shakes 1 time 2 times 3 times and press one more time to catch.

This is just a rumor.

Pressing some keys doesn't increase the catch rate.
