What hardware do I need to export/import/edit/save Pokemon White games?

I have a regular Nintendo DS (the first one) and Pokemon White. I want to be able to export the save file, edit Pokemon in and import the save file back. What hardware will I need?

You can either use a flash cart, a save backup dongle, or a specific Action Replay that allowed saves to be put on an microSD card.

I personally use a flash cart as they have other uses outside just save backups. They tend to be a little more expensive than the others depending on the brand (which determines the features) of the cart. There is a really nice thread here in the forums that goes through all of your potential options and the tools needed.
