Pokegen Crashes when trying to edit HeartGold saves

I use Desmume and I've been trying to edit the saves on my HeartGold and it crashes every time I try to save. My Desmume saves save files as .ds1 and idk if that changes anything. Anyone know how to fix this?

I've looked around the site and tried the things that everyone else has but nobody else had the same files that I have, it's usually .dst files and idk why my files are different. It works fine on my Pokemon White 2 rom which is a .ds1 file as well

Open the dsv save files in the battery folder. That's way more stable than editing save states.

I did that, but how to I load those changes so that I can actually get the pokemon I want?

dst=save state (memory)

dsv=save file (cartridge's save chip)

If you load the dsv you should have little problem.
