White 2 - Save Data Problem

Hello folks,

I'm new to Pokegen and am having difficulties. My problem is the following.

I'm playing a Pokemon White 2 ROM on the computer (not on the DS) and was experimenting with creating Pokemon through Pokegen. At first, this worked just fine, but an hour or so later, I stumbled across a problem. I opened up the save file in Pokegen, made changes to my party and boxes and saved it afterwards. But when I open up the edited save in Desmume, I'm back at a Pokecenter where I saved earlier on. The edited Pokemon are all there, in my party, but the game progress is back to where it was when I saved the game at that place. It's like I've been travelling back in time while retaining my party. I'm pretty sure I'm saving and opening the right files, as it was working at first.

What am I doing wrong?

There should be a .bak file with the same name as the save you edited. Rename that to .sav (or .dsv depending on whether you directly edited the .dsv) and compare to see if there really is a big progress loss. If so, upload both files (the backup and the edited saves) so we can look at them.
