The Golux Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Alright, I hope this isn't overasked, but... I know the relationship between IVs, Natures, and PID as it was in the fourth gen doesn't apply to fifth gen, and I know that Nature was decoupled entirely, but I'm curious as to whether there is still any kind of known/predictable relationship between PID and IVs. I think I'd heard that there isn't, but people here with more experience than me might have further information that I don't know.
OmegaDonut Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 PID\nature and IVs only to a certain extent for Wondercards without a set nature. No relationship for anything else.
The Golux Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 Really? That's kind of impressive. Are they determined by different RNG results?
Kaphotics Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Yes. The game uses two different RNGs to determine PIDs and IVs for everything but wondercards. The IVs are set by a 32 bit Mersenne Twister; the rest is determined by the "PIDRNG", which is a 64 bit Linear Congruential RNG.
The Golux Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 I see. Is there a link to what's known about the results for the wondercards without set nature?
Kaphotics Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 The relationship isn't traceable, so essentially it's random for generating purposes. the game takes the top 5 bits from consecutive random numbers and then does the PID. smogon research psot
