ARDS v1.71 firmware issue

I've scowered the internet for a solution and all I can determine is I need to get to v1.60 firmware for my DS before I can update to v1.71. Is there a way around this besides compatability mode because that didn't work for me either and I tried all XP/Vista service packs. I'm using Windows 7 32 and 64 bit neither was able to work. ARDS firmware v1.54, I assume I have Code Manager v1.25 since I had to download it from Codejunkies. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
