AllyKat Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Okay, So, its become obvious to me that there is something majorly up with Burmy. I have tried several times to generate a male Burmy who will evolve into a Mothim. However, every attempt so far has resulted in my male Burmy evolving into Wormadam. The game is obviously doing something funky involving the PID... I am just not sure as to WHAT. Here is what I am looking for: Species: Burmy Gender: Male Nature: Modest IV's: 30 for Attack & 31 for all others Please test this first because you may find the same issue as myself: it evolving the wrong way. Thanks for you help
AllyKat Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 I thought I should mention... I have tried BOTH PokeSav & PokeGen.
Rinduri Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?1131-Pokmon-Request-Rules Fill it out. Then I'll check for you.
AllyKat Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Pokemon Species: Burmy Gender: Male Level: 19 Ability: Shed Skin Nickname (If wanted): No Trainer ID (If specific): Any Valid Secret ID (If specific): Any Valid Shiny (Yes or No): Yes Egg (Yes or No): No Nature: Modest Pokéball Captured In: Premier Ball IV Stats: 30 for Attack & 31 for all others Location/Date Met: Today... Route 207 (Caught with Honey on Tree) at Level 7 MUST evolve into Mothim. Please test first because I have generated over 10 failures between PokeSav & PokeGen that all evolve wrong (males that become Wormadam). I have even tried modding a caught Modest Male but no longer evolves correctly after modding.
Rinduri Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Well it evolved into a Mothim for me so you must be doing something wrong. Freaking thing took forever to level as I encountered Raikou than three Abras. Lol.
AllyKat Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Would you be so kind as to provide this IV 31, 30, 31, 31, 31, 31, Modest, Male Burmby? (Cause so far ONLY the one's I catch on the game and are not modded evolve properly.)
Rinduri Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I would but there is no legal PID for a shiny male modest Burmy of those IVs. I had to change it up a bit to get a legal one. What do you want me to modify?

What do you want me to modify? Skip the Shiny... I thought it'd look neat. The stats and nature are what is needed.
Rinduri Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Still no valid PIDs. I assume you're EV training this, in which case two values are primary and the others are not. Which are not?
AllyKat Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Still no valid PIDs. I assume you're EV training this, in which case two values are primary and the others are not. Which are not? I completely disagree. I hand pick my EV's not just dump 252 on two of the stats (which only leaves the Pokemon extreme vulnerable in battles.) I am going to state this only once: I am not a noob. There is either a flaw with my cartiridge otherwise all I really need here is the Valid PID with matching IV's. This is the ONLY problem that I have ever encountered like this. All my other gender based evolutions worked properly. So can you just give me the PID with Attack being whatever so long as its Male and Modest with the other stats being 31.
Rinduri Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I never said you were a noob, I was simply asking you for which values I could decrease so that I could get a valid PID. Nor was I arguing EV training, which I could honestly care less about. Though I have to question whether or not the PID generation is the problem, if you do indeed know how to do such correctly. So can you just give me the PID with Attack being whatever so long as its Male and Modest with the other stats being 31. That is what I needed. Here is a valid PID: 382918565. 31 across the board aside from attack which is 26.
AllyKat Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Here is a valid PID: 382918565. 31 across the board aside from attack which is 26. FYI: it didn't work. I am really starting to think there is something wrong with my Pokemon Pearl cartiridge. (It is nearly 4 years old now.) Sorry... venting on the account that I have spent hours on trying to figure out what's going wrong. Though I have to question whether or not the PID generation is the problem, if you do indeed know how to do such correctly. I would luv to know what I could have possibly done wrong?
Rinduri Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I'm not sure but here's the .pkm file that I've tested and is working. If it doesn't evolve correctly then it definitely is the cartridge. You could always just make a Mothim in that case since it would evolve in one level anyway.
Guested Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I doubt the problem is in the cartridge. But perhaps some more research is needed here. It could be that Burmy uses data beyond the face-value gender and is tied with the PID and/or another value (similar to the value for Wurmple). Are you merely changing the gender to Male? Or are you using a PID that generated a Male gender specifically for a Burmy?

I don't know if you were asking her or I but I was using a algorithm 1 generated PID specifying the gender as male. That worked fine, as I would think it would.

Guested Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Okay. Then hopefully that pkm file works for her, otherwise I don't know what else could be wrong.

Umm... this one evolved in correctly too. I do want to point out that my cartridge is Pokemon Pearl (and not Platinum.) Once again... either: A.) It's my cartrdige. B.) Diamond and Pearl use a PID/IV/Wurmple-like factor which was removed when Platinum was released because Nintendo realized it was causing this X-factor. Believe me... I have no problem accepting "option A". I forced the one I wanted to evolve properly with PokeSav so I no longer care. Then hopefully that pkm file works for her, otherwise I don't know what else could be wrong. For those that asked, yes... I was using the PID method #1 with PokeGen and tried countless random PID's using the generator in PokeSav.
