.Sav files working on R4 for the DS?

Hi.

Im pretty new to these forums so if this in the wrong place, please forgive me.

So, heres the deal, I recenlty downloaded Pokesav Platinum and made a Sav file, after transferring this onto my R4 for my nintendo DS, the game wont pick up the save file and tries to have me create a new one, does anyone know of a reason why or how I can make a Save file for my ds?

Start a new game and save in-game, then edit it in pokesav from there.
