Using the legit checker

So i downloaded the legit checker, i open the exe, and i then drag the pkm file into the black box. now what? i see the file location script but what do i do to get it to actually give me info on whether its legit?

Drag the .pkm file onto the EXE itself.

it just launches it if i do that, doesnt actually do anything with the pkm file

It sounds like you are dropping the pokemon into "TrashBytes.exe" , which is used to normalize the pokemons' trash bytes.

You want to drop it onto the file called "Legal.exe"
