About This File
This is a rebalance hack of Pokémon Colosseum with a number of quality of life changes designed to incorporate mechanics from later generations, streamline playthroughs, and minimize the need for grinding. A variety of optional and sometimes sandbox-y features give players the agency to approach the game in whichever way seems the most fun for their playstyle. Some changes include:
Purification of Shadow Pokémon is available from the very beginning of the game (and there is also an option to purify Shadow Pokémon without needing to lower their heart gauges)
Physical/Special split for moves
The exp curve has been dramatically reworked to ensure that opponents’ Pokémon give more exp points when defeated, so that heavy grinding should not be necessary. Additionally, Lucky Eggs are available as early as Phenac City to further boost exp gains.
Many mechanics from Generation 7 and later
18 additional Shadow Pokémon, as well as many changes to the list of obtainable Pokémon compared to vanilla (including new starters!)
Rebalancing of Pokémon stats and movepools so that all obtainable Pokémon are viable
50 TMs are available, and TMs now have unlimited uses
The Fairy type has been included and the type matchup chart matches modern generations
Opposing trainers have stronger teams
Trade evolutions have been changed to evolution by level up
And more!
This is version 1.0, meaning that the hack is complete (including post-game) and has been playtested multiple times. There are some known (minor) bugs that don’t substantially affect gameplay. A huge thank you to StarsMmd for some technical support with a few issues and whose “Colosseum Tool” was used to make the entire hack. Please read at least the “Quick guide READ FIRST.txt” file in the documentation to get a sense of the most important changes before beginning your first playthrough.
How to patch your ROM
I recommend using the patcher at https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/ which will require you to supply your own legally obtained .iso file of a US version of Pokémon Colosseum (always use a clean version of the iso, not an already patched version). Use the "Colosseum Rush 1.0.ups" file downloaded from this website as the patch. It may throw you a warning about the file size being large, but it should still patch successfully. If this still doesn't work, you can try using NUPS (Windows) or Multipatch (Mac). After patching, make sure you read the "Quick guide READ FIRST.txt" file downloaded in the same folder as the patch.
