<p><p><p><p><p>Interestingly, the Mesopotamians had a very bleak vision of the afterlife... they called it the house of darkness... with nothing but dust to eat... and you can see nothing. The Mesopotamians were very religious actually... it's evidenced through their ziggurats and their votive statues. Some of their tales have men attempting to get eternal life (due to not wanting to die and go to afterlife but live as long as possible on Earth)... like Gilgamesh (I believe he is the Biblical Nimrod) but he would not attain it... ever.</p></p></p></p></p>
