So I've been going through my old games, ensuring I've obtained all in-game event Pokemon, and I think I never obtained the roaming Latios in my SoulSilver game. I can't find it anywhere in my collection and it's very unlikely I would've traded it. I can't verify by Pokedex because I used a Latios transferred from Sapphire (which I verified in the Hall of Fame). I verified that Copycat has her doll back, and Steven Stone is chillin' in the Pewter City Museum, daydreaming about Moon Stones, so I've definitely triggered the event at least once. I beat the Elite Four again, but I can't find any way to trigger roaming Latios to appear (in the case that I made it faint the first time).
I checked my save in PkHex, and my event constant for "Roaming Latias/Latios" is 4. The only "known" values are "Not Appeared", "Ready to Roam", and "Roamed" (0, 1, and 2, respectively). Does anyone know if 4 is the value for "Disappeared", or caught? Does anyone have a HG/SS save where they definitely caught the roaming Latias/Latios and can check this constant?
When I tried to reset this constant manually (to 1, setting it to 0 or 2 doesn't do anything), Steven will "appear" as soon as I fly/set foot in Vermillion City (he doesn't actually appear, but the game acts like he's there and his text appears). Then, the roaming Latios icon will appear on the PokeGear. But, when I'm on the same route as the icon, I only encounter normal Pokemon in the tall grass, never Latios. I'm guessing this means I already caught it, but I'm hoping someone has a save they can examine or send me so I can verify my event constant is the right value.
Thanks!

This is a really stupid question, and I feel like I'm missing something obvious.
I'm using Kaisonic's version, as I really loved the various options that ViolentSpatula's added. So, having support for ORAS is wonderful. However, after importing my old custom strings, I noticed that the IVs are getting that annoying asterisks around them when they are perfect. ((I think that's a feature for reddit? I don't use reddit.)) Is there any way to disable them, or will I need to manually remove them each time I dump?
Unrelated, but is there also any chance that these will support the newest Virtual Console releases of the old games? I'd love to see the DVs of my current pokemon, as well as if they'd be shiny using the old algorithm.
Hey, sorry for the delayed response, I forget to check this thread I added a "Bold Perfect IVs" option in my version a while ago, but I realized I never actually released it lol. So check it out here: https://github.com/Kaisonic/KeySAV2-Kaisonic/releases
And I'm not sure if the Virtual Console games will be supported, but I do know that the Pokemon Bank update for Sun and Moon this year will allow you to transfer Virtual Console Pokemon to the bank, which will then be transferable (I'm assuming) to all Gen 6 games. Either that or just to Sun and Moon, which will probably be supported by KeySAV2.

I had to reformat my 3DS recently, but I still have a backup of my SD card with my old extdata on it. Is it possible to use this to do anything with my old battle videos or are they gone forever?
Assuming you haven't created any new battle videos after the reformat, you should be able to just copy those files back to your 3DS and use them normally.

My program otherwise works fine, but the male/female symbol is missing, it's just a rectangle. How do I fix it? I'm running it on a Mac through Wine.
Try downloading my version and unchecking the "Use Unicode characters" option.

I'm having an issue, using the method of Yabd, it keeps saying "incorrect file size" when trying to load the ramsav.
Not had these issues before, fully updated KeySav so don't think thats the problem.
The official KeySAV2 doesn't support YABD files, try Cu3PO42's build or my build (links in the first post).

I am having issues with trying to find ESVs but I cannot select go to check the eggs? Is there anything specific I have to select?
What does the program say after you hit "Open SAV" and select your save file? I assume you already did the break process for your game?

There is an option to export Pokemon to a CSV. I was wondering if there is a way to do edits in the generated CSV and then import to PKHeX? This would be much easier and much more convenient.
Thanks!
That would be considered mass-editing, which PkHex does not, and will never, support. :frown:

How about a suggestion for the future KeySav version? Like something that displays pokeball sprites in reddit.
In reddit, the code to display the pokeball sprite is [](/pokeball), or if it's Dream Ball then it's [](/dreamball), etc...
In KeySav however, the name of the ball always has a space between the ball type and the word "ball", and it would be tiring to erase that single space one-by-one lol when posted in reddit.
So my suggestion is to have a 2nd "reddit theme" in KeySav that also displays the pokeball sprites, or something to remove the space to make displaying sprites in reddit easier.
You should check out my version, it's one of the available columns :-)

How can I use KeySAV2 to view my opponent's team? I need to check their values. I have broken the encryption for the battle videos, and I can see my team just fine, but it does not give me the option to view theirs.
You have to have your opponent follow the same instructions that you do when you create your battle videos (I forget what they are exactly, but it's like only have one Pokemon, and then move that Pokemon to the second slot for the second battle or something..... whatever it is, have your opponent do the same thing). If successful, the program will tell you (during the breaking process) that you can read opponent data as well. This only has to be done in the breaking phase - once you have broken encryption for both you and your opponent, you can view any video (from that slot) and be able to see both your and your opponent's Pokemon.

Make sure you have .NET framework downloaded and installed: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24872

Hold on, so what does this tool do exactly? Can I extract Battle Videos somehow with this tool using SaveDataFiler?
This tool is for viewing Pokemon data using encrypted saves or Battle Videos. If you can use SaveDataFiler and PkHex, you don't need this tool (unless you wanted your Pokemon data formatted in a certain way for like a Reddit thread or something).

I followed the tutorial to check my TSV and I got a resulting file that said "SAV Key - Linda - (29048.10977) - TSV 1465". I tried to use this file for the Open SAV tab and it said "Incorrect File Size". I don't know if I did something wrong here?
That file is your keystream, you don't open that file in the "SAV" tab. After you obtain your keystream, you can then open any save file from that game in the "SAV" tab.

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. I did a search and this is what I found.
I downloaded KeySAV2(ORAS) and it worked fine, then it stopped. Kept saying I needed to break videos first.
So I completely deleted and downloaded everything again. It worked for awhile. Tonight I checked a set of eggs and when I went to check the second set it stopped working.
Is there anything that would keep the Key Bin from being lost?
Are you making sure to delete your Battle Video on the SD card every time you copy it to your PC? Battle Video encryption is broken by slot, so if you save a Battle Video, break encryption, then save ANOTHER Battle Video, that second video will be in a different slot and you'd need to break encryption for that slot as well.

I'm just getting back in to breeding eggs again and I've used Kaisonic's version and added the ESV matcher (from SV Checker) and the quick save file list if you have powersaves installed.
Download:
Nice! You should make a pull request on Git so you can post the source code :-)

If you're referring to the RAM2SAV exploit, it sounds like you should be able to use it just fine. You just won't be able to go online in-game with that system at all.
As for backups, the only danger is injection - if you inject any modified Pokemon, make sure they injected properly BEFORE you save your game. No damage can be done until you hit SAVE in-game, and then damage can only be done if you injected bad Pokemon or save data.
-
You'll have to download my build and check the "Show ESV for hatched Pokemon" option. You shouldn't have to break for your save again if you copy the "data" folder from the folder your KeySAV2 is in to the folder that you put mine in, but if you do, there's an included readme file that guides you through breaking for my build (it's a little different than the official build because you don't have to save twice every time you dump a save).
-
I just answered you on Reddit lol. If the error is caused what I think it's caused by, then my version should handle it properly. If it doesn't, can you send me your break saves?
-
If you want to break/view all 31 boxes, then you need saves where the program sees the three different states (empty, full1, full2) for each slot in your game. You don't need 930 Pokemon, it's just a lot faster if you do. Otherwise you'll have to make more than three saves, moving around the Pokemon that you do have in order for each slot to see the three states.
And they can be any OT - the only ones that must be your OT are the first six that you use in your break saves.

could someone please explain how i could do this please thanks!
https://www.reddit.com/r/SVExchange/wiki/keysav2#btn
I'd like to have some questions please. Is the PID of the pokemon in the pk6 file just as the real PID or the program rolls itself?
Why there are still some '~' mark before the results when I break the encryption using battle videos even if I choose hidding uncertain data? Is it diffrent from the meaning of using save files? It dosen't mean uncertain data?
Is it possible to read the data which are in the party and the battle box?
Sorry to trouble you.
1. It's the actual PID of the Pokemon.
2. The ~ mark, for battle video data, just means that there's no "Box" that the Pokemon is in (since it's in a party) - there's no uncertain data in battle videos. So yes, the tilde ~ has different meanings for battle video data and save file data.
3. Not with only KeySAV2.
-
Hm I guess now that you mention it, it might be stored in the save somewhere. But that's for someone more knowledgeable about saves to answer lol. Have you tried asking over in the Save Editing Help forum?
-
Sounds like you need /r/friendsafari ;-)
But in terms of the game, it's continually reading your friends list from the 3DS system in order to generate your friend safari, either when you load or game, or (probably) when you access the friend safari. So even if you successfully edited the friend safari in your save (assuming that data is even there), the game would overwrite that data when you try to go into the friend safari.

You'd need a DS emulator for Gen 4, no? VisualBoyAdvance won't do it - try DeSmuME.

I suggest just cloning the Tyrunt. Even though the serial codes are unique, everyone is getting the same Tyrunt (minus some possible RNG on IVs or whatever, but that doesn't matter). So cloning the Tyrunt itself seems more valid than redeeming a Wonder Card twice. It would be just like going to one of those sites that host pk6 files for event Pokemon and downloading one of those - I don't think anyone's had a problem with any of those in terms of trading, the Bank, etc. (Or at least I haven't - I could be wrong).
But reusing Wonder Cards definitely seems like something that Nintendo could easily check for. They could just as easily check for exact clones of Event Pokemon, but these can also naturally occur due to RNG and the nature of Event Pokemon, so it's not something they can take any actions against.

I was the one that added the level to the box data report, so I feel somewhat responsible haha.
[Solved] HeartGold/SoulSilver Roaming Latias/Latios Event Constant
in Saves - Research
Posted
I did further research and made some discoveries about some of the constants in HeartGold/SoulSilver (well, technically just SoulSilver, but I imagine HeartGold is the same).
So after researching/learning all of this, I've determined, unfortunately, that I have indeed caught roaming Latios on my SoulSilver, and I must have traded it away at some point. Hopefully this research helps someone in a similar predicament!
