  2. Hi! I hope this is the right place to ask for this; I’ve searched this forum and on Google in general but I couldn’t find anything, even though I’m sure it exists.

    Could anyone link me to a list of all the Pokémon used by NPCs in the Gen 3 GBA games? At the moment, I’m especially interested in Emerald, and in knowing the IVs and EVs of the Pokémon used in the Elite Four. (I’m working on something and I need accurate data for damage calculation.) I thought I had seen and saved lists like that a long time ago, but I can’t find anything like it anymore. There’s so many people here working on ROMs etc., a simple list of all NPCs with their full Pokémon data (not just level and moves) must be available somewhere, right?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  3. How about a lottery feature that allows you to ‘draw a ticket’ just once a day and then checks all your stored Pokémon’s OT IDs? Just like in the games but allowing you to actually use all your Gen 3 Pokémon (on Trigger’s PC) to up your chances, not just the ones you happen to have stored on the game whose cartridge you’re playing on at any given moment?

    Just a thought I had while collecting my daily prize (usually PP Up) from the one Emerald game I collected OT IDs ending in 00–99 for.

  4. Speaking of shinies I've been trying to do soft reseting to encounter a shiny legendary but it's driving me insane. I wish there was a way to hunt shiny legendaries without getting carpal tunnel. -__-

    Tell me about it. I still have a (legit event) Deoxys that I haven't caught yet because I really want it to be shiny. :3 Shiny hunting in Gen 3 is the worst.

    So even with your tool, it's still incredibly tedious to check Mirage Island. My saves are in my downloads folder, Triggers PC folder and VBA as well as a few other places. So moving them to the VBA folder, saving them and then copying the VBA files to the respective locations. As well as renaming them. I think I'll just check every time I update a save. Because doing it everyday is not worth my time. At this point, I'm still tempted to just use Action Replay. I've waited 10 years too long.

    Do you have a GBA cartridge with a dead battery? When the battery is dead and time stops flowing in RSE, the value for Mirage Island will stay the same forever. So maybe instead of checking whether you can get a new value that fits your Pokémon, you could try checking all your current and future Pokémon (automatically with Trigger's PC) with a value (or several values) that stay(s) the same (and might match new Pokémon you add for your current Living Dex quests).

    This might get ignored at first because this is an edit. After you added the egg shiny check Trigger, I've been wondering if it would be possible to add a shiny check for shadow Pokemon? Sometimes they appear to be shiny in Colosseum but aren't when you purify and sometimes they're shiny when you purify them.

    You are probably aware of this anyways and I'm just adding to this to clarify in case anyone might be confused about this: Wether or not a Pokémon is shiny is determined twice in Colosseum. First when you encounter it but then it resets when you purify it. Which means you can catch a 'shiny' which will (very probably) not be shiny once you purify it, or catch a non-shiny which might then turn into a shiny at purification. Not sure how Trigger's PC deals with this. If it shows you that you have a Shadow shiny, you are probably already aware of that and can assume that it will stop being shiny when you purify it. (Shadow Pokémon in xD can never be shiny, afaik.)

  5. I've found my first Shiny 12 years ago. So you've an idea of when i've started to Shiny hunt. I prefer simple encounters rather than SR, but sometimes you don't have the choice (31 592 SR for Bulbasaur, omg, but at least I got Ivysaur in 6 SR and Venusaur in 30XX SR so deal with it) but it's really a thing that i love. I can't wait to have them all, but at the same time I don't want to finish because it's 10 years of my life that would end... haha.

    Well, what can I say? Incredible. Just incredible. What about Mew? Do you have a legit Old Sea Map for Mew / a legit shiny Mew already / do you plan on getting one by searching all of Japan?

    For the bases everything is ready in my mind, i've to admit i'll take advantage of the clonage glitch on Pokemon Emerald

    Same here. I do like FRLG a lot, and I have a lot of nostalgia for Kanto and the first 151 Pokémon. But while there were so many things to do with consequence (also for later Gens) in Hoenn – Contests, Ribbons, Berries, Conditions, breeding with Emerald mechanics, out-of-battle effects of Abilities, Battle Frontier, … – Kanto in Gen 3 doesn't offer much besides the "original" plot. There's not much to do with/to Pokémon there that gives you a feeling of collecting or building the base for later generations. Even berry crushing for powder is rather useless if you can get PP Ups from the Lottery much more easily.

    Which actually brings me to my next point: As we're currently posting suggestions that might seem a bit weird, and as people here seem to have lots and lots of save files – what about a feature for a Pokémon collection like the living dex but with OT numbers? Let me explain:

    A few months ago, a friend and I spent hours and hours soft-resetting a game, checking the OT, then trading Pokémon from that game to Box and resetting again, until we had at least one Pokémon for each two-digit ending of OT numbers (---00 to ---99). We did this so we could maximise our chances of winning at the Lottery, and I have been collecting my daily PP Up in Emerald ever since (sometimes I also win something else). I know you can soft-reset on a given day (as long as you have not saved on that in-game day yet) to change the Lottery's winning number, but having each ---XX OT ID speeds up the process of farming PP UPs a lot. (One could also try to get as many 3-digit combinations as possible but would quickly run out of storage room on any given cartridge before having enough to really up the odds of winning, making the process not really viable.)

    So I would no longer really need this feature for this collection, but given that others might want to try the same thing and that with Trigger's PC, one could – in theory – attempt to collect every single OT number possible, why not have a series of boxes that show which OT goes where, similar to the Living Dex boxes show which Pokémon goes where? Do you know what I mean? It's probably not a very important idea but I just thought I'd bring it up, given that we seem to be able to talk about basically any kind of organisational help we can think of here (which I appreciate a lot!). :D

    Such an overview would then also allow everyone to check what they have and see what they are still missing, making it a lot easier to trade and complete/expand everyone's collection super fast. (That is, IF others are even interested in that, of course.)

    Edit:

    One more thing I thought of: Would it be possible to expand the Shiny Egg check to include a custom list of Trainer IDs & Secret IDs (that's what's needed for the shiny check, right?). So that you could add the IDs of a save file you don't use often and don't want to have loaded up in Trigger's PC all the time? This would also allow a group of people to add all their respective games/IDs and then everyone in the group who creates new eggs can check if the egg would be shiny on any of their own or their friends' games (without having all the games directly loaded/added as saves in Trigger's PC). People could share their IDs and help each other out.

  6. Load the save in Triggers PC directly from your SD card and then make your changes/save. That way it saves directly to your SD card. The save is removed with the SD card so it's no longer on Triggers PC and then the backup is safe wherever you left it.

    That is just … wow. How did you do this? Do you have a preferred method of hunting for shinies? Also, how long have you been doing this? You must have spent an incredible amount of time on that.

    And for the Secret bases, i'm just gonna make one for XP and 6 for 3EV each stat. I think i don't need more than that to be honnest.

    For the Exp bases, Chansey/Blissey actually take quite long to fight. If you have Latios, it's much faster to use some Latios with Memento as their only attack (although Memento doesn't work on a Pokémon it has been used 3 times already, so if you had 6 Latios, you would need to switch the Pokémon you want to level up out or use X Attack on it). Even better are Mewtwo with only Self-Destruct (send out the Pokémon you want to level up, then change to one that faints to Self-Destruct, first Pokémon gets all the Exp), but you need to play through Pokémon xD to have the move tutor in that game teach it (one playthrough for every Mewtwo you want to use). If you make a Base with 3 Latios and 3 Mewtwo, you can switch between having your attack reduced by Memento and sending out a different Pokémon to faint to Self-Destruct, and you go through one Exp base in just 6 turns (as opposed to a lot more turns when you fight 6 Level 100 Chansey/Blissey). Both Latios and Mewtwo give a lot of Exp.

    As for the EV bases: Don't forget that Ditto also copy the EV yield when they use transform. You can use that information for all kinds of useful combinations for EV bases. Other than that, my only advice is to check the Pokémon's full learnset if you're going to use it in an EV base, as sometimes the 'useless' moves suggested by Smogon are not the best ones for that Pokémon (in terms of how easy it is to get the move on that Pokémon and such).

    I've found a suggestion ! Similar to the Mirage Island tool, why not a Feebas fishing spot finder ?

    I was thinking about this too when I found that thread about this here the other day. Maybe the tool's functionality could be incorporated into Trigger's PC?

    Oh wow, that's a lot. How did you collect them? Did you RNG to get them or did you actually take the time to look for fully legit ones? O.o

    I'm really for all the Secret Base stuff (i never saw the thread linked before about this on smogon, and i'm gonna use it)

    Not sure what exactly you're going for (EVs, Exp, …), but if you get serious with this, send me a message if you want to hear about some more advanced ways of making use of the bases. :) (Details depend on how many games you have and which Pokémon you have access to etc.) Just the Smogon guide is fine, too, however; not trying to say it's bad info, just that there's ways to optimise them.

    Wow... I'm looking at the dates and I'm surprised Trigger's PC has only been out for 3 weeks and a couple days. It's felt like months to me.

    It's a safety mechanism at the moment because I have no way to tell when you opened your game in an emulator so I can't tell if changes have been made to it after you opened the game.

    If you wan't I can add a force reload feature for the current loaded game.

    Ah, I didn't realise that Trigger's PC would refer to the save file you specify when you add a save (and not make a copy of it or something). If it works this way, I guess I will just have a .sav file for each game on the computer and then update this one whenever I change anything. That works, so there's no need for a new feature. But just to explain what I meant before:

    I transfer a save file from the GBA game to the computer. I load that save file into Trigger's PC, do something with it, then copy the updated file and move it back to the GBA game. Then, I play the GBA game and update the file by playing. And when I then move that updated file from the GBA game to the computer again, I thought I would then tell Trigger's PC, look, for this game I have added, forget the old save file on the computer and use this new one (with a different file name and/or in a different location), as it's the updated one and the other file is the old one.

    Do you see what I mean? That's how I approached it initially. This way, I would keep the old save file as a backup and just redirect Triggger's PC to the new save file for a given game.

  8. A project I was working on a few years ago and abandoned. Ralts with Synchronize, 2 of every nature . I still have a lot if you want them. I never got every nature but maybe a bunch of Ralts with synchronize and various natures might help somebody.

    That's cool. :) I don't think I need any, though. I got my Synchronisers from the Prize Corner in FRLG. I just bought an Abra, checked its nature and ability and soft-resetted until I had one with Synchronise for every nature. That was much easier for me to do than breeding or hunting.

    Ribbon hunting. That pisses me off. While I have perfect Pokeblocks thanks to the above mentioned collector, getting the Battle Tower ones are enraging. I did it with my Suicune because it was designed to beat the Battle Tower and has (Decent enough) IV's. I was linked to a guide (Again, by that blasted collector) by some guy on the internet. He collected every Ribbon with a Delibird. I can't even get my Rocks Metang to last 7 fights to get a ribbon using a save state! (Would be so cool to have a Metang with all 80 Ribbons and Refresh). I messaged the Delibird guy and never got a response. I've pretty much given up at this point. While there's a lot of Pokemon I'd like to collect all the ribbons for, I'm calling BS until I see some proof that it can be done legit.

    Ah yes, the Delibird person. :D Well, I have spoken to them because they started their ribbon hunt based on information I collected, and afaik, everything is legit. Some people are just really good at these Battle Tower things (I'm not). They are not the first person to do it either. I've always wanted to do my ribbon hunt with a Spheal (so many soft-resets to get a cool one in xD), haha, can you imagine that thing in the Battle Tower? ^^

    I'm done ranting now but seriously!

    Is there a way to 'update' a save file that is added in Trigger's PC? Maybe I just didn't see it? What I mean is: once you have added the save file to Trigger's PC, done something with it then played it in the GBA game again, it would be cool if you could click on the game in Trigger's PC and update its save file. The way I am doing it now is that I delete the save from Trigger's PC, then add the updated save that I just transferred from the cartridge to the PC. Is there a different way?

  9. I looked at my highest stat Pokemon and thought pretty much. "Cool. I have some Pokemon with really good stats. […]"

    I looked through all my current save files yesterday, and my highest-stat Pokémon – with an amazing IV spread of 30/31/10/31/9/31 – is a Farfetch'd. (-__- ) Out of all the Pokémon, this is the one with the best stats. Don't even remember what I bread that one for, probably to pass on False Swipe or something. Sigh. But whatever, it's male so I might be able to use it for breeding. And once I start to breed for the Battle Frontier (currently still busy hunting lots of Ditto), I might get a Pokémon with an even better IV spread that isn't Farfetch'd … ^^

    We lamented the 3rd gen community and talked about how awesome it would be to find other people like us and have a small community. hahahaahah

    It is always very exciting when you find other people that are still invested in Gen 3. :) And it's catching on. It's really cool to see how many people have picked up ribbon hunting for example. A few years ago, basically nobody had even heard of it. And most people are so very helpful. I got my first Liechi berry by sending someone my actual GBA game so they could trade it onto it, for example.

    It would be really helpful to know if they'll hatch shiny on one of the many save files I'll be making since I intend to make a save file for every game in every language before I finish buying all the carts.

    I have thought a bit more about this feature and would like to add two things:

    First, I'd say the more illegitimat part of Trigger's PC here is that it shows you the IVs, nature etc. of unhatched Pokémon. And nobody has an issue with this. The shiny factor is just a nice addition to this feature. And you still have to create and transfer all these eggs. And then hatch all of them if you want to get rid of them by releasing them.

    And second, the idea behind Trigger's PC was to bring together people's many Gen 3 games into one place, right? For example, the reason why Trigger's PC doesn't reset the friendship value when trading a Pokémon is because, as has been discussed here, it feels wrong that a Pokémon would lose its friendship with you just because it is sent to a different (form of) you. Trigger's PC helps to unify a trainer's collection of games to add a bit of sense to the very hard life of Gen 3.

    What tool do you use to transfer and backup your cartridges? I'd love to get my shiny Ekans from my physical FireRed save over to my current saves. What's the price range on it?

    I bought a DSTWO card for about €30, I think. I got a micro SD card that I put in an SD adapter to transfer save files from the DSTWO card to the mac/computer and back again. The DSTWO card runs GBA Backup Tool just fine, I use it with my DS Lite. For GameCube saves, I have the SD Media Launcher, i.e. the thing that looks like a GC memory card and lets you put SD cards in it. I have GCMM on the SD card (it has to be a normal SD card for the SD Media Launcher … or at least one with not more than 4 GB … not sure about the exact restrictions but you can check online), which I can boot up after starting the GameCube with the Action Replay disc that Launcher came with. GCMM lets you backup GC save files (including Japanese ones) just as GBA Backup Tool lets you backup GBA save files. That's all, I think.

    Glad to read that HaxAras is also for the Secret Bases. :) I have various teams with 6 Pokémon that give 3 EVs in a stat (it's a lot of fun collecting these, actually) and am working on various teams with several Latios (with nothing but Memento) and various Mewtwo (with nothing but Self-destruct) – the issue for me is having to play through Pokémon xD again and again to get the tutor to teach Self-Destruct to Mewtwo –, and the whole Secret Base thing is a lot of fun to do for me, so the more attention they get in the Gen 3 community, the better. :D

    Re shiny egg checker: I have to say, out of all the "legit but also kinda not" features of Trigger's PC, this is the one I am the least worried about. I have about 16 active save files for 14 actual cartridges, and as HaxAras said, it would be a pity to miss out on a shiny just because you hatched in in the wrong game. The odds are still incredibly low (unless you create and add thousands of save files just for this feature …*and then if you go that far you might as well cheat for a shiny in other ways), so I don't mind this feature at all. In fact, I think it's pretty cool. :)

    Does it help you in any way if I tell you that GBA Backup Tool seems to be able to tell the language of the game? When I use it to backup save files, it shows the name of the game and the final bit has the info on which language (E for English, J for Japanese, D for German, etc.). That name's then also used as the file name for the .sav file. Maybe you already know and this doesn't help (because the info's not stored in the .sav file itself or whatever) but I thought I'd mention it in case it might be of use in some way.

    2) You can already specify nicknames for saves so that should suffice for knowing the difference between Pokemon Box Saves.

    Ah! Sorry, I didn't know. I should try out more things before I make suggestions. :S

    Something I have just thought of that would make my life in Gen 3 much easier: an overview of occupied Secret Bases in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. As in, a list that shows which Secret Bases (locations) have trainers in them, the trainer's info (name, sprite, …) and the trainer's team. That would help immensely with keeping track of which EV teams and which Exp teams I have in which location on which game … but that might go beyond what you have imaged Trigger's PC to be used for.

    It would be incredibly cool if we could put trainers and their parties from one game into a Secret Base of another game (a shortcut of what happens when you mix records). This would probably be A LOT of work, and I would probably feel too much of a cheat if I used a feature like this anyways ^^, so … just putting it out there because it crossed my mind.

    One thing I noticed when adding my Japanese save files: The trainer names didn't appear right first, even after changing the game to Japanese. Only when I closed the Manage Games window and opened it again did the correct hiragana/katakana show up. Also, without a manual, people might easily overlook that they have to set their save file to Japanese. Maybe this should be done via a checkbox when the user selects which game (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, etc.) the save file is from? That might also make it possible to display the trainer name correctly the moment the game is added to the list.

    Also, when adding more than one Pokémon Box save file, all of the Box save files show up as 'Pokémon Box' only. Maybe add an option to add a custom tag to these saves so that we can tell them apart ..?

  14. I have finally had time to use Windows and use Trigger's PC, and I'm amazed. It is super cool, looks great and has so many features. Big thank you for all your hard work! :)

    As I see the Search function as the most useful feature for Gen 3, and as others have commented on features they would see useful for their own ways of playing Pokémon, I thought I'd post some thoughts/suggestions for the Search function here:

    • Could you make it so that one can move from one Pokémon to the next by pressing the arrow keys? At the moment, I seem to have to click on a Pokémon's icon to bring up that Pokémon's info. Would be a big help if I could simply press the arrow keys to move on.
    • What about a list view similar to the one Pokémon Box offers? That would help a lot with comparing and getting an overview of large Pokémon collections, especially in regards to IVs (see next point).
    • As getting an overview of IVs is still a bit cumbersome with the current functionality, could you enhance the IV search function? I like that I can select 'any' and 'higher than', but if would be great if I could, say, search for Pokémon with specific IVs lower than / equal to / higher than whatever value (e.g. a search for Pokémon with a Speed IV higher than 30 and a SpA IV higher than 20).

    I know that all this is a lot of work and I don't want to be/sound rude or demanding. I just thought I'd comment about what I personally would benefit most from, similar to others have done so far. Whether or not you can / want to implement any of these, I am very grateful for all your hard work and the great tool we've got already! :)

    PS: One more tiny thing I noticed: I only had a Pokémon Box save file added but I could still use the Mirage Island function. It told me no Pokémon matched (obviously), but I thought maybe you'd like to disable this feature when there's no Mirage Island game added/loaded in the first place.

    To reply to your read-only question: I'm not sure. I don't see much use for it to be honest. If people wanna show off, they can do that in other ways, no? And those who fear their Pokémon might get cloned might also fear others simply creating a Pokémon based on the info they can see in Trigger's PC. Depending on how much this mode would show, people could simply recreate the Pokémon. Or actually find a way to acces the file in a way that allows them to clone the Pokémon file. But if you (and others) want it, sure, why not? :)

    That is a perfect solution and gets rid of all my worries. Thanks for clearing this up for me! :)

    Edit: Almost all my worries, as Mew and Deoxys will be available then and appear completely legit – or not?

    Also, Pokemon Box is fully supported already. HaxAras was a major contributor to help getting it working. :D

    English and Japanese Colosseum Celebi and Pikachu, Wishmaker Jirachi, Channel Jirachi, Pokemon Box eggs, etc, etc. I've already uploaded or found online in saves and shared them for everybody to get. The only really rare event Pokemon I have in gen 3 are some Japanese events I was asked not to share by the person who helped me get them and a Teeter Dance Pichu that I don't even know if it's real. I've also shared a bunch of PCNY Pokemon. […]

    I've shared a save file with the Regi dolls scanned in and a Pokemon Ruby save with the entire PC filled with shiny berry-fix Zigzagoon.

    I don't see it as relevant for Trigger's PC whether you or other people have shared their save files with these or other rare Pokémon on them. The only reason I am bringing this up in the first place is because Trigger's PC (the way I see it, maybe I'm wrong) is trying to stay as legit as possible and work more or less like a technical update to some very cumbersome Gen 3 mechanics. People have been sharing their save files (which always means cloning everything on it because people will download it and use it without caring about whether others are using the same file/Pokémon/items/…), using cheating devices etc. since forever, and that's okay, I just see Trigger's PC as something different.

    I worry less about the game-events Pokémon you listed. I do think that the effort involved in getting the games (such as Channel for Jirachi) is part of the requirements that you need to fulfil to say you've obtained the Pokémon legitimately, but I think sharing these via tools is not as bad as sharing distribution events such as the Old Sea Map for Mew or the Aurora Ticket for Deoxys. It is mostly these super-rare Pokémon that I'm worried about. (Although even the game events require a lot of effort sometimes and it just doesn't feel right to just click and create them on the spot – at least I feel it doesn't quite fit the idea behind Trigger's PC's as it has been implemented so far.)

    Attaching un-obtainable ribbons to Pokemon just makes them ill-legit. I'd hate for my False Swipe Altaria to be stuck in gen 3, they're so amazing for catching wild Pokemon when you teach them sing.

    Well yes, that's the idea. They're not legit to begin with if you get them by simply clicking a button in a tool on your PC. And a ribbon wouldn't prevent them from being sent to later gens, just add a bit that would still make them different from those Pokémon that people spend a lot of time on trying to get without any tools. Trigger's PC is already doing similar things such as when it consumes the ball when you change a Pokémon's ball. It's allowing you to do something you usually cannot do but at least it makes you pay for it a bit. Also, from what I've seen you post, I assume you have lots of 100 % legit False Swipe Altaria directly from Pokémon Box anyways, given that it's the first Pokémon you receive in Box and that you seem to have a massive collection of Gen 3 stuff. :)

I do have a lot of Gen 3 stuff myself and I am not interested in clones (but let's not derail this thread here – I'm happy to message with you privately if you wanna talk about rare Gen 3 stuff etc. :) ). I comment on this because this is the approach I'd like to see more in the Pokémon (Gen 3) community. I've also offered to share rare things in relevant places (e.g. Liechi berries for those who are working on perfect Pokémon conditions), via save-file exchange or even snail mail, and have done what I can to help other people playing Gen 3. For example, one person shared their Pokérus with me, and I paid them back with a Channel Jirachi. It's things like that that make it even more rewarding to not cheat, and that boost the fun I get from being part of this community. And that's what I think is ruined by creating rare event Pokémon by clicking a button. People who want to do that can do that already anyways with other means, they don't need Trigger's PC for that.

    Let me repeat: I don't want to argue against cheating/cloning/… in and of itself here. The only reason I bring this up is because so far, I felt that Trigger's PC was going into a different direction.

  17. Hi everyone! Another huge fan of this project here.

    I haven't had time to comment here as I've been both super busy lately and I don't own a PC (have a macbook with windows on it though that I sometime use), so I can't really try out the versions and look for bugs etc. BUT I wanted to say that this project is such a great idea, and it's so cool to see all the updates and super-fast reactions to bugs etc.

    The search feature is amazing. I have always wanted to check Pokémon's IVs more quickly, as it is such a pain to check for IVs in Gen 3. This will be even better once Pokémon Box is supported. :)

    The only thing I am a bit worried about at the moment is the event distribution. I think it goes against this idea of keeping everything as legit as possible. Legit Gen 3 events are super rare nowadays, and being able to just add them to your game via Trigger's PC isn't much different from simply cheating them onto your game any other way, is it? Or did I miss/misunderstand something? I can understand that people might want to have the events on their games but with everything else being legit(ish) in Trigger's PC, why have the events just like any other cheating tool? I like that you will include the requirements for Pokémon Box events for the Box Pokémon.

    Now, I know that you and others want this, so I was thinking that maybe you could at least add a ribbon to them so that they can be recognised as non-legit event Pokémon, also if traded onwards to Gen IV etc.? That way, people who want the event Pokémon can still have it (and ribbons aren't shown in the status screen in Gen 3 anyways) but if they ever try to present it as legit, in Gen 3 or any other generation, the ribbon is there to remind people that it's not. Not sure which ribbon would work here, probably one of the ones that went unused by Nintendo.

    I have some ideas of what else could be added, but to be honest, the tool is amazing already and can do so much more than any of us here would have ever expected (as you can tell by the reactions here, I guess ^^), so before I post anything like that, I'll try to get to use the tool myself first and see whether or not my ideas make sense in the first place.

  19. I have two cartridges that had their battery run out, replaced and RTC patched to work again. Both had contact with VBA (1.8.0 SVN926 - farming items is much easier with a memory viewer and savestates) so both had the "last saved value" somewhere in 2014.

    Fascinating. Glad it worked for you.

    Furlock included the source so it should be possible to port it to DS flash carts.

    I actually had a friend working on it for one day. But we created a 'plugin' for the DSTWO card and only then realised that such plugins can't actually access the GBA cart, lol. And when he decided to code it as an .nds file (like the GBA Backup Tool), I found my old GBA flash card and could use Adam's program after all, which made him stop. xD

    It's been some time since I compiled DS-stuff (Pokreader DS; never took the time to translate the page from german) so don't hold your breath but maybe I'll try someday.

    Did you manage to get berries growing in the savefile that seems to be "forever corrupted" by VBA?

    Yes, by resetting the save-file time values that you can edit via A-Save ('Reset RTC').

    Does the clock in the player's room still move?

    I think so, but the time in game is not the time I see when I open/edit the file in A-Save.

    Did you try "transplanting" the savefile to another cartridge?

    No. Now that you mention it, it seems weird that I'd never thought of that. I might get another US/Europe Ruby cartridge and could try it with that; save on the other cartridge and then move the file back to the old one … (or would that work with Sapphire, too? Emerald? Japanese Ruby? ^^)

    If you send my a copy, I could try sending it to one of my cartridges and see if I can find out anything.

    Oh, thanks! I've attached my current save file from my German Ruby game. (I'm not too happy about this as I don't like people cloning things that way, but I don't think I have many rare/special things on this save file anymore anyways. ^^)

    The save file has once been saved on in VBA with VBA's RTC enabled. Then I reset the time values A-Save allows you to reset. Then I accessed and changed the cart's RTC with Adam's tool. Berries grow but daily events do not work. I might just no longer be able to see an obvious solution, as I have been dealing with that one game for so long and have become increasingly frustrated … ^^

    I should note that when I used Adam's tool on this Ruby game, it first told me that the 'power flag [was] raised' and didn't let me set the RTC. I kept refreshing with Start, though, and at some point it did show a time and I could edit it. My other games I used Adam's tool on didn't show that behaviour, except for my Japanese Sapphire game, for which I would either get the 'power flag raised' message or some very odd RTC values and for which I couldn't change the RTC at all. Not sure if this is relevant. When I look at my Ruby game with Adam's tool now, it shows me the RTC value I set perfectly fine (and consistently going forward).

    If you do find the time to look at it and figure something out, let me know, would be awesome! :)

I know this post was from seven months ago, but can anyone confirm if the RTC fix in A-Save truly fixes the clock in RSE back to its normal form (after going to different areas, saving, loading more areas, saving, etc.)? I'm really hoping that it does, want to try to get back to battling my friends in their Secret Bases.

    Hey! I'm the user you're quoting there. As you might have seen when reading through the thread, I have posted a later update saying that while berries grow, daily events still don't happen, at least not with the fix discussed so far. I don't know if that is my fault for simply resetting the RTC instead of entering whatever exact date would be required but I can tell you that Secret Bases etc. will sadly not refresh after 24 hours. If you want to re-battle someone in a Secret Base, you have to mix records again with them (and the desired team).

    Back when these posts were made, I was quite happy with just having berries grow again. However, it would still be really cool to get all of the time-related events working again. I will start looking into it again, but from what I can tell others like KazoWAR themselves have a much better understanding of the RTC and other time-related things than I do. If anyone knows what to do to actually re-enable not only 'time' (berry growth etc.) but also daily events again (that rely on the day switching) without having to change the cartridge's RTC (*not* the date saved in a save file), I'd be very grateful for any help!

    Edit: It seems the only way to make it all properly work again is to use Adam's RTC editor that allows you to access the cartridge's RTC, not just edit the date values in the save file. I have successfully repaired my GBA games with that tool. (It doesn't work on games with save files that have been tempered with by VBA and the (computer's) RTC enabled, though. It seems VBA really messes up save files if you enable its RTC.) So far there's only a version for GBA flash carts, maybe one day someone will make a version for DS flash carts as well.

  21. there's a similar mechanic in the later gens, too. as part of the real time clock monitoring, they track every change of a minute throughout the day, starting at midnight(1440) through the next 11:59 (0). and using savestates or swapping saves around will break it pretty badly for obvious reasons.

    then again, perhaps it has something to do with the game not updating the rtc until you change areas. this actually happens. the cart's rtc will update, but the game's will not. are you actually playing through? or just loading the save and vising the berry guy? if you're just visiting him, try this:

    -load the game

    -change areas(so the area name updates) a couple times

    -enter and exit a couple of houses

    -save again

    -wait until you know the berry guy should be working again

    -enter and exit another house

    -visit him

    I've tried this now a few times and on several games but it didn't work. If there aren't any new ideas of how to not only enable berry growth (which works fine) but also the berry master (who doesn't give out berries anymore), I'll probably try different things with the RTC settings. Maybe setting everything to 0 wasn't the best idea, maybe the 'adventure started' value should be the same as the other one etc.

    Oh, I had hoped something like this was not implemented in Gen 3. I've read online that you could cheat by playing on the VBA and changing the clock settings on your PC, allowing you to grow berries much faster etc., so I thought the game wouldn't care much about how the time changes as long as it knows what time it is now.

    -save again

    Something related to this, out of curiosity: Could someone explain to me how the 'current time' is stored in the game? I can see in the save file editor that I can edit 'Time' but it shows Hour, Minute, Second and Frame, and the hour value is higher than 24, so I'm totally confused. If I wanted the in-game time to be, say, midnight or 14:25, what would I have to enter in the 'time' settings?

    For the record: It seems the berry master does NOT give out berries again … I've tested it on several games now. Berries grow fine but the berry master as a daily event does NOT work. Any idea why this could be? I guess the daily events mechanic is different from the berry growing mechanic in that the berries only need time to go by (while the clock is not 'behind' the time-stamp in the save) and the berry master needs a midnight reference point that maybe got lost somehow?
