7.

I know exactly how you feel. I want to know the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about Jesus, expanding on the knowledge that I already know. In doing so, paralleling translations and a lot of time in prayer. Prayer is fun, I don't see how people say that it is boring <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh.png" alt="xD" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

 9.

Anyways...the KJV I've got is just New Testament + Psalms + Proverbs....the three things I read most of, anyways. It's slimline and fits easily into my pocket. I've been taking up reading it though, and it does open up a bigger picture, which is AWESOME.

Yeah, I hear ya. My first Bible was an NIV, and when that became difficult that's when I started paralleling translations and such. Well, my second Bible. I was given the KJV when I was just a baby....

 11.

Naw, it's fine.

I didn't know about it until a few years back...plus the date changes, so it's hard to keep track of it! President Obama actually said some good things about it though...and is endorsing that it be put back into its rightful place (Apparently the Bush administration was the cause for it being so....secretive)

Well, it's intolerable to bring a Bible to school where I'm at, too. We've got a Bible club, but the principal has not allowed for us to hang meeting posters all year, instead, it's all by word of mouth. Like first-century Christians!! <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin.png" alt=":D" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Happy National Day of Prayer! :] I spent it well...brought my personal KJV to school and sat and read it whenever I had free time. I guess I haven't picked it up in so long...I can actually read and understand it now! (Although, next to the Lord's help I credit American Lit, when we had to read a bunch of stories in similar old-english!)

 17.

Heheh. Neither is mine, my friend. Just keep pressing on, once you've got your degree or whatever, you're free to move on!

Yes, yes. *nods* I've had that discussion in both my French class and my American Literature class over the past few years. If I took the time I could adequately understand the KJV, but I, too, am yet another one of those blasted lazy Americans! Any type of read that is poetic captures me, another reason why I love the NLT. I captures the poetic force of the KJV quite well, especially in the Psalms, I think. :]

Yeah, basically. It kind of disgusts me. But there are both good and bad places, as there are in any Bible translation.

 19.

Indeed he has...

It's just the old english variants of words that trip me up.

Now if we're talking like The Message or something...it's almost laughable. That should not be taken as a true translation at ALL. But, I own a copy of the NT in it, just for enjoyment reading. It's nice to sit back and soak in God's words without having to analyze every little thing.

Ah, but I am going to a fully-Biblebased Christian college. I will be double-majoring in Bible/Theology as a primary and Psychology/Counseling as a second. Personal and spiritual growth is one of the biggest things this college has to offer, that's why I chose it.

 21.

Yeah, you're right. Scratch that. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue.png" alt=":P" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/tongue@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I don't know everything about my Bible...a lot, but not nearly close to everything!

They were right in saying you learn something new every day!

As for me, I use the NLT...simply because it's understandable to me. I've never really seen the point in believing if I can't understand what it is I'm supposed to be learning about. Not dissing the King Jimmy or anything, because I use it on occassion, myself. I enjoy paralleling Bible translations...

And I'll be able to learn more once I'm actually in school, since I'll be in a Bible Interpretations class and so forth. Good stuff. Jesus and Psychology. That's what I'm going for in college to learn more about.

 23.

Yeah, that's where I get caught in issues too, too many people are too gullible to see through my sarcasm =/ Ouch, I hurt many by that and I don't even mean to!

<img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh.png" alt="xD" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />! Yeah. You'd recognize me instantly if you were in the chats with me at all...I'm generally "Moderator.Okami" (facebook) or "Okami.KDR" (Meebo) And since there is a strict rule against impersonation, I am the only Okami there. Of course, my full title is Moderator Okami the Marine Mademoiselle (We all have a color/gender thing...)

Ah, and I agree with you about the whole important verse omittion thing. My thoughts are that because every version of the Bible was handwritten back then, some people probably just left things out (perhaps by accident, like how if you're rewriting a long essay and you skip a line)

I don't know. It's yet another tricky subject, if you ask me...I'm just grateful that the translations add the footnotes. It adds to my personal experience, because I'm a footnote junkie!!

 25.

Yeah, no kidding -__-;

I hear ya...my handwriting's horrible though, that's why I put my heart into things that I write. If someone wrongs me in any way, I can just sit here and laugh. Because it's better to laugh than to take offense, you know? :] I've learned from past mistakes. I can't argue with people who don't know what they're talking about! (Unfortunately that happens all the time with even IRL friends, even when I've made clear my sarcasm or whatever)

Sarcasm gets me into trouble. I need to dull on that a little LOL!!

Facebook is nice though for it's little games...I'm a huge Farm Town nut! I'm so addicted it's not even funny.
