Ah, so it probably could just be an ordinary Red/Blue rom the event runners were using then.
I didn't get to see what kind of system they were running to keep the show running though, maybe they just had saves prepared that had lots of Mews in the box system and they moved Pokémon between trades, or maybe it was custom in some capacity.
-
The Yellow version on my end is just the Virtual Console version, I can't remember what it was like to do link trades on the original console but it's entirely possible that they modified the game to work with the VC changes that enable link communications over local wireless.
That is an interesting detail, maybe the rom he was running was not Red or Blue version as-is, but actually a distro rom in VC?

Hmm, that's a shame then, no difference at all.
Seeing as we'll be able to import these Mews via Poké Bank in the January update, it looks like it won't be able to examine any trash bytes or any unique flags or anything to differentiate event or region. Who knows what the end result of the transfer will be.
At least we know that now.

It seems like this distribution might be all cloned Mews, hard to be sure unless we get more samples I suppose.
Anyway as promised a video of receiving the Mew.
And a couple of photos I took whilst at the event.

I was one of the lucky ones who won tickets to the event, I got to attend had a fun time there, got to meet Shigeki Morimoto and have some merch signed, got the event Mew and saw some great Team Skull cosplayers.
My 3DS was already hacked and I dumped my Pokémon Yellow game save as soon as I got home, unfortunately this site was still hacked at the time.
Attached is the dumped Mew file from my extracted sav.dat using JK's Save Manager, as well as screens from PKXDelta. If you need I can also share my sav.dat file. The Mew does indeed have perfect IVs. To clarify, the save was dumped immediately after receiving the Mew, it was never stored in a box.
Forthcoming is a video recording of actually receiving the Mew in a trade, and a couple of photos I took.

This is like the second time now that the next patch happened to come out, just as I happened to check this thread.
Thanks as ever guys, keep up the good work.
-
I just want to say, thanks for the V3 patch, things are starting to get really nice and polished up, and this is some exciting stuff.
Keep it up.

If any one finds any errors (of any kind) please submit them here: http://kazowar.pbworks.com/Submit-Errors
If any one finds any typos please submit them here: http://kazowar.pbworks.com/Submit-Typos
This will help in making sure that errors aren't overlooked or repeatedly posted (since thread has a new page like every hour)
Thanks!
It was my first thought to post over there instead, but I can't appear to comment on it.
No way to sign in or sign up, and therefore no way to comment.

These might have been posted already, but it's a huge ass thread, so....
I've noticed a couple of errors, my Victini learned the move Headbutt, and the description says you can use headbutt to find pokémon in trees, a feature from HG/SS, but not in B/W.
In a double battle, my Moguryuu hit everyone with earthquake, including Charen's Yanappu. It said "Yanappu <br> is not very effective...", or something weird looking to that effect.

I sure hope so! I'm using a rather old R4i SDHC that they stopped updating so it's not like I can just wait for a firmware update, and it'll be a long wait until it releases here.
As far as I'm aware, the only thing the patch actually does it replace text characters in a clean rom
So in effect you have a clean rom patched into a translated clean rom.
If there is a patch that can work on a DSTT, you should be able use a AP fix patch for the translated clean rom.
(Or you could get a good flashcart, just sayin')
-
I installed the patch and it's working great, quirks here and there but already, just having something you can read is better than nothing.
Incidentally, if you're patching the rom and ending up with a 0kb _patched.nds file, well xDelta doesn't seem to like accents
Pokémon.nds -> Patch FAIL
Pokemon.nds -> Patch success
Thank you so much for this, the whole community appreciates it.

I don't know if this is any help to you guys, but earlier my team contracted the rare pokérus virus.
I knew that this usually triggers a dialogue where Nurse Joy informs of you tiny green bugs being harmless and such, so I took photos of the dialogue.
So I guess you can use this to pinpoint where in all those files, that the pokérus dialogue is, maybe along with anything else the Nurses have to say.

I just have a couple of questions about the project itself.
Will there be a central website with updates and downloads such as kazowar.pbworks.com?
Will you provide patches with and without anti-piracy circumvention? For example, I have a DSTwo and a Wood R4 that would only need a translation patch, and an Acekard which would need the EXP/Freeze fix along with a translation patch.
Best of luck with the project, I look forward to being able to battle in english.

This is assuming you already have homebrew or custom firmware access on your 3DS.
If all went well, run Pokémon Yellow and you should see the Mew successfully injected.
