  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitwise_operation

    >> is "bitshift right"

    ^ is "bitwise XOR"

    & is "bitwise AND"

    0xFFFF is 16 consecutive "1"s in binary; when using with AND, it will keep the lowest 16 bits, and no higher. Basically it strips it down to 16 bits from a 32 bit number.

    esv is a shorthand representation of the PID which can be compared to a shorthand representation of the trainer ID.

    Ah. I see what is happening in the equation now. :D

    Thank you for clarifying. The wiki link was very helpful too.

  2. First of all I'd like to clarify that technically a pokemon never has a TSV since the T = Trainer (TSV = Trainer Shiny Value).

    PKHeX does show the ESV of eggs, but I never looked into changing them. Then again, for as far as I know (anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, and if I am please do) there is no need to really. If you would edit the ESV you would have to edit the PID (Pokemon ID). This, in theory, would come down to the exact same as hatching the egg non-shiny then editing the PID to be a shiny PID through PKHeX.

    The latter method even saving the entire hassle of that the egg has to be hatched by someone and therefore saving a lot of time in the worst case scenario.

    Actually, I was going to change ESV to match my TSV so that I don't have to trade. But I think the latter method would work too. I haven't thought about it to do it in latter method.

  3. When ((PID >> 16) ^ (PID & 0xFFFF) ^ TID ^ SID) >> 4 == 0, the Pokemon is shiny.

    TSV and ESV are simplified representations of the Trainer IDs and PID.

    ESV = ((PID >> 16) ^ (PID & 0xFFFF)) >> 4

    TSV = (TID ^ SID) >> 4

    ESV == TSV -> shiny.

    Not to bump the thread, but I was curious how PID and ESV was related and I came up to this thread.

    I read what Kaphotics said and I tried to comprehend the equation he put, but I am having problem understanding the symbols.

    I expected to see * (multiply), / (divide by) but rather I am seeing >>, &, ^.

    1. Is >> mean "greater than" and ^ mean "power of"? I guess & is just "and"?

    2. If PID was 58AC9E92 (for example), I guess it is greater than 16?

    3. Also, what is 0xFFFF. I know it is hexadecimal term but is it referring to value of 0xFFFF?

    Basically, I am trying to change the ESV value (by changing PID and whatever is related to it) to my TSV value so that hatching in-game will net me a shiny. I guess the easy way to cheat shiny is to click the star button PKHeX to make pokemon shiny, but it won't change ESV, which translates to OT and TID being incorrect, ultimately leading to not legal pokemon.

  4. Thanks so much Guested. You are like All-knowing God in pokemon tech stuff.

    It took me 2 hours to figure out how to use all programs, read guides, and do little bit of trouble-shootings, but I managed to do it.

    Also, it would be awesome if can describe how to extract .pgf files.

    I am guessing I have to use Grovyle's program?

  5. Um, I don't know if this question was ever mentioned in the thread but I will ask anyway.

    For events that uses IR, you need like a legit version of the game, right? meaning that games in flashcards are not able to receive IR transmitted events.

    If this is the case, I was wondering how people extracted .sav files and hence, .pgf files from legit game cartridges.

    Is there like certain USB connecting device that allows one to copy the .sav file in legit game to the computer?

  6. Great! Another translation time for me. ^^

    Who & What: Well, the Korean Pokemon Company is releasing a small pokedex book that includes all pokemons from 5th gen (151 + 1 pokemons). Its about the size of DSi but that is not important. I says you can buy this book for 6,800 won. This is about $6.80 USD with tax included. Purchase of the book is followed by 3 Korean Global Link Gifts: Polygon, Polygon Z C-gear skin, and Polygon 2 Doll in Dreamworld.

    How: Polygon and Polygon Z C-gear skin needs a password that is included with the mini pokedex book, but everyone can have Polygon 2 Doll. No passward need for the doll.

    When: October 20, 2011 from 3PM ~ April 27, 2012 3PM

    [Event Date Subject To Change due to Operational Problems]

    Polygon Information

    Ability: Analyze

    Level: 50

    Moves: TBA

    It looks like the Korean version of the Winter Break/ANA Darkrai (JPN) will be distributed in Korea from September 3 to September 25 at various locations.

    Hopefully one of our Korean-reading users can translate the details for us.

    Aww.. That sucks. I left South Korea on September 3 to come back to Toronto. I went there for summer break for 2 months. oh well.

    Anyways I will translate the important stuff for you cause I am Korean.

    What: Darkrai.

    Why: Its for celebrating the release of first movie from Animation Best Wishes series. I don't know what movie is but it involves Victini, Zekrom, and Reshram.

    When: Guested already posted general dates and I am going to expand on that. But I am not writing down specifically where. Too much typing. :( All are september dates.

    Only once department stores (Home Plus [Equivalent to Home Depot, I guess]) - 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th.

    Some places open on Fri, Sat, Sunday for every week within event period. those are listed above DS Lite and DSi.

    How: You can receive through Infrared Communication in DS Lite and DSi for Black and White only. There is no 3DS in Korea yet.

    I think that pretty much summarizes the advertisement.

  8. If you want to extract .pgt from black and white 512kb save file? What program do you use and how do you go about it?

    Also, when I receive the wondercard or whatever it is called now for gen 5, do I have to not receive the event pokemon until I extract the .pgt?

    Or can I receive it in pokemart/pokecenter and still contribute .pgt?

  9. While not necessarily 'Europe', South Korea has announced the distribution of Snarl Zoroark.

    It appears it will distributed at TCG tournaments in Seoul.

    BEXCO Busan Exhibition Centre - June 26th, 2011 8:30 a.m. until 6 pm

    SETEC - July 3rd, 2011 8:30 a.m. until 6 pm

    I currently live in Canada but I am visiting my family in S.Korea for summer July and August.

    So, during that time if there are any events, if event place is not far away, I will try to get every single BW event pokes.

    However, it could be that Nigoli can awesomely(not a word) somehow get S.Korea events. So yeah.

    BTW I am getting that Korean Zoroark almost at the end of July. Not in champion ship tornament but at my hometown.

    If u go to official wesbite ( I can read korean) there is gonna be another distribution at the end of july. I am guessing all stats are same as champion ship one.

    Nevertheless I am getting it and I am hoping to put it up in this thread or the event contri. thread. If someone gets it be4 me, I guess I will keep just for myself.

  10. Oh. Ok I now get how it works. Thanks for quick reply.

    But then... Isn't nature and IVs set from the point where mamoswine is transfered?

    meaning even if u capture again in Entralink, it will be the same as the one before.

    I guess it wouldn't matter because you can tweak them with pokegen.

  11. Is there an official DW contribution EVENT thread? I know there is basic DW contribution thread.

    EDIT: I figured out that DW contribution thread has event pokemons too but it isn't updated.

    What DW event pokemons am I missing for Jp and Eng?

    I have...

    Jp = Mamoswine, Eevee Evolutions, Porygon

    Eng = Eevee Evolutions

  12. I'm willing to bet that he made a backup of the save file before receiving the Mamoswine, then proceeded to capture Mamoswine 96 times by restoring the save file each time.

    So wait one second. I am failing to see how capturing 96 times works.

    You transfer a pokemon to DW then you make a backup save.

    You bring captured mamoswine to current save file and extract the mamoswine .pkm file.

    Then you replace with backup file and bring captured mamoswine again?

    but isn't mamoswine gone from DW already? I am confused.

    How extractly do you get whole bunch of DW pokemons?

  13. I haven't been able to upload my flareon and leafeon yet (busy, busy), but It doesn't seem necessary anymore, right?

    I doesn't seem necessary anymore but I think it actually is because contributing pokemon is always good and benefits(?) others. I think having second eevee evolution contributions is fine. The more the better. but not too much...

  14. I see somepeople getting more than 2 pokemons per day. Like 15 dreamworld pokemons or 7.

    I thought you could get 1 dreamworld pokemon per day because you are not allowed to go into the forest again. Plus when I try to wake up a pokemon and try to tuck in another pokemon to get 2nd dreamworld pokemon, game sync runs out of energy and i have to wait for another day.

    How to i get a lot of dreamworld pokemons in one day?

    Why is there 10 pokemons you can take to your game in friend board when you can only take 1 per day?

    Also, i waited 3 days after planting a berry and it only turns to a young leave form? does it take a week for a tree and ripen berries? I am so confused over dreamworld.

    Someone help me plz. :(
