It's an error of the game, although the one-room "version" I've only seen recently on the hack. Sometimes the game fails to properly load the target Pokémon of a mission (both one that needs rescue or an outlaw), so the Pokémon just... isn't there, and you get a message when entering the mission floor saying "... but where's the target Pokémon?". It seems like this can be accompanied with what you experienced, the game also fails to properly load a randomly generated floor on top, and as such defaults to a one-room floor.

I found the cause of the issue. It was not Explorers of Fortune after all. It was the single Action Replay code that I use, which allows guaranteed recruitment. Even though the code only activates after a button combination and can be turned off with another, simply having it enabled in the emulator was enough to interfere with ALL dungeon restrictions (recruitment, EXP, and Level 1 behavior), most likely because it just hooks into the code of the game. I can't believe it didn't occur to me, especially when I was recruiting Pokémon in Temporal Tower (even though it was "off"). Disabling the cheat completely restored the intended behavior. I'm sincerely sorry for the confusion in those last two pages, given this was the ridiculous reason of my issues with the hack. And thank you and other people who might have been testing as well. The somewhat good news I suppose is that if someone happens to use the same code someday and runs into the same issues, they might run into my messages and get it resolved.

Okay, so it seems like all my testing was all for nothing and the problem just comes from my file. It's a bit embarrassing. But at the same time, I simply don't understand why I'd be experiencing this when I haven't touched the ROM beyond modifying a starter in the Classic starter list, which is intended by the creator... Unless that would somehow precisely be the reason. Anyways, thanks for coming back to me on this, I'll try to figure out the problem on my own, but if for now I'm the only person who has these issues, then it's not something the creator needs to look into.

Thank you very much. Would you mind trying to finish one of them? Try Purity Grove with a Pokémon you don't intend on using for example, in case their level does in fact not revert properly, or just use a save state. It only has 20 floors. Other than that this is simultaneously good news and driving me nuts. Because I am also obviously playing on 1.2 and I have NOT touched anything regarding dungeons, or patches, etc on Sky Temple, only the starter list, so I don't understand what's going on (I tried to play on the original patch to make sure it wasn't because of me too, and they were still borked). I'm still pretty sure it has something to do with the EXP share ; but it was working fine before 1.2. Another thing: EXP restricted dungeons like Zero Isle North. Do you stilk get experience in them, and are you able to recruit in all Zero Isle dungeons in general?

Following: sorry for spamming, but this is important. Not only are restrictions broken for a lot of Dungeons, but I just finished Zero Isle West with a Basculegion recruited in Brine Cave (level 40 or so). This dungeon DID properly bring it down to level 1, however upon finishing it the Basculegion remained at the level I finished it at: level 15, instead of going back to level 40. I thought maybe this had something to do with the universal EXP Share of the romhack, but I'm not sure since it all worked fine before 1.2. This might just a scripting problem, since the dungeons do have their restrictions properly checked. Edit for additional info: upon testing a bit, I noticed that Purity Grove (custom dungeon, but still) allowed me in without reverting my level back to 1 as long as I didn't have any items on me, without the usual restriction warnings. When I tried to enter it with one item in my bag, the game properly gave me the restrictions warning text, and my level actually was reverted to 1. Edit 2: nevermind, it is the universal EXP share, at least in part I believe. If a Pokémon who's level is on standby for going up enters a level 1 dungeon, it keeps its level and then levels up. Only Pokémon who are not ready to level up by entering a dungeon due to the EXP share will be reverted to level 1 when entered a level 1 dungeon. However once again, this is inconsistent. So I'm thinking overall, there is some scripting issues with restriction dungeons and the exp share, as well as other errors such as the one I mentioned above with Purity Grove. I don't know about the Recruitment restrictions though. I'm having a hard time pin pointing the issue. @WindchildWhimsy

@WindchildWhimsy just wanted to confirm that several dungeons with restrictions don't work properly since 1.2. For example, Purity Grove no longer bringing your party to level 1 and Temporal Tower allowing recruitment as mentioned earlier in the topic ; and today I was able to enter Zero Isle South without it making my leader level 1 either (and allows recruitment).

From what I see when it comes to EOS romhacking it's currently impossible to give third abilities to Pokémon. What you can do whoever is modify this Romhack yourself using Sky Temple and give Scolipede the Speed Boost ability by replacing one of its existing abilities. Alternatively, you can also set Scolipede's Movement Speed to 2, effectively granting it a Speed Boost on top of its current abilities.

Hawlucha and Goldengo are absurd Unburden Pokemon (Goldengo is a super easy mode for level 1 dungeons, because it has super high stats at level 1 for some reason, Unburden which is a broken ability in PMD, and good move pool). Litwick line has amazing typing and movepool, especially with access to Confuse Ray, and Starter level up stats (also great for level 1 dungeons). Murkrow is not a new Pokémon, but it now has Starter stats since 1.2 update so it's even better than it already was, with Super Luck ability and Sharp Shooter IQ skill. Mimikyu is a solid Pokémon with good typing and Intimidate, which makes it really bulky, but it has poor level up stats, so your gummies will help there. Tinkaton has one of the best fan sprites in this game by far, has one of the best typings, and a strong movepool. Other great Fairy type are Tapu Fini which has Adaptability in this, and Rapidash-Galar (another excellent level 1 dungeon pick). I'm gonna stop here cause there's really a lot of great stuff you can use in this, but the new starters in particular should get your attention.

Hello again, I would like to thank you once more for putting more work into this, this is an incredible Romhack and you should be proud of yourself and the people who worked on it. I have a question though ; it's been months now I've been playing, so I'm pretty much in end-end-end game (mons are level 80, finished Zero isles, Destiny Tower, etc) so I'm wondering if my save will still be usable if I get the new patch? Or is it just not worth it and I should jump into a new playthrough?

I made an account just post on this thread. I recently felt like playing Explorers of the Sky again thanks to just a random couple YouTube recommendations but since I don't have DS anymore and it has been years and years since, I decided to install Drastic and this Romhack. I'm thankful. Your work on this has been stellar, I'm enjoying my playthrough a lot so far. I hesitated between this and Alpha and realised Alpha just overhauled the game way too much to my taste, and I was looking for something closer to vanilla with only simple additions and quality of life features. I can't believe how active the romhack community is for this game and I'm eagerly waiting for your next update. I think yours is the one headed in the best direction and I hope you'll continue working on it. I have a few of questions: - Do you plan on adding a feature to be able refresh the Job boards? - From my understanding, modifying this game is easy, but straight up modding it and adding more content seems limited ; for example I reckon you said in this thread there are limited attacking moves and Pokemon slots? Is that why you may not be able to add even more in the future? - You mentioned making the Gummi grind easier by doubling Gummi IQ gain values, but did you by any chance also increase the amount of Gummis found in dungeons? I really don't recall them being this much common.
