Hi All, I am reaching out as I am trying to attempt some things that are well above my paygrade with regards to hex editing, extraction, and anything above "click here and do thing". I am reaching out to you great experts for help or at least maybe guidelines of what to do next.
I recently was able to extract the save data from my original copy of Pokémon Blue I had back when it first released. Somehow, the battery has held on for all these years. Through some steps, I could extract my powerful Mewtwo as well as various other remaining Pokémon that had survived the transfers to the Gen II games, and push them through my 3DS to Home, where they now comfortably reside. However, a casualty of these transfers to Gen II was my very first started, a humble but memorable Blastoise.
I was able to use Poke J's PKX Extractor to still find the lingering data of the Blastoise and pull it as a pk1 file (attached here). Using an online app called PKMDS for Web, it says the Blastoise is currently residing in my Box 1 of the save file. I saved the file, booted up the ROM to test, but it still wasn't appearing. If I had to guess, it was an issue I saw in a similar post where the "Party Counter" was set to 5 so it wasn't showing up any longer.
I have no idea how to do hex editing and am worried I would mess up the data more. I am hoping the great people here would be able to assist with getting my very first starter back in action again and allow him to join up his compatriots living a life of retirement in Home preparing for Gen X. Thank you in advance for reading this and any assistance you may offer.
