Is this possible without a legit cartridge? Maybe using emulation? I do have a 3DS.

I’ve been out of this game for a very long time. What is the quickest way to download a DS emulator, and play through HeartGold, and get the Pokemon to Home? I do have a 3DS if needed. I guess I can get one of those action replays. I just don’t know what the most straight forward way is? help is much appreciated
