So, I did a wheel spin of what my starter should be in Gen 1 and it landed on Articuno. I had my younger brother choose the Rival's starter, he also chose Articuno. (He had no clue of what my starter would be.) However, when I go to change the starter in the Gen 1 block data, it doesn't save and change the Pokemon. The only other option I know that might fix this would be an emulator with a game genie option on it, but can't find one. I would love some info as to how I can successfully change the block data in Gen 1 to show up in the game. Thanks in advance.
