Hi all,

I took a 20+ year Pokémon hiatus and returned right around the launch of BDSP. I claimed some of the very first Mystery Gifts, but amazingly, I never claimed the items for Shaymin and Darkrai to unlock in-game. 
 

While I have them in other games, I am wondering, what are my options if I wanted to edit the saves to inject the items/activate the events? I have my saves on a Switch 2, and I do not own a modded Switch 1. I have digital copies of the games as well as v1.0 cartridges for BD & SP. I have a friend who has a modded Switch. What kind of crazy gymnastics (if any) could work given all of those conditions? Lol

Transfer your saves via a System Transfer to your friend hacked switch, and redeem the gifts in there via Switch Gift Data Manager, or activate the event flags directly via PKHeX. You can transfer your save file back after the process.

In v1.0 carts you can use glitches to reach Shaymin, but Darkrai would not appear unless the proper event flags are activated, which is not possible via glitches. That said, you can't load an updated save file to an older version of the game. 

The only/suggested way is to use an hacked console, capable of going online (SysNand CFW, not EmuNand).
