I've recently discovered about the rng blinking method for BDSP and I've been hunting non-stop for the past weeks, but since I'm late to the party, obviously i cannot shiny hunt darkrai and shaymin since I don't have the mistery gifts.

My question is simple, I was wondering if there is someone or something that can guide me step-by-step on enabling the events and allowing me to rng hunt the events mons, and keeping my switch "online-friendly" so that I can still play other games, or if it's best if I get a second one and do the modifying on the second one

I know about pkhex, but I've got no idea how it works or how to get my save file outside of the switch, and I don't want to rush things and get stuff deleted without noticing.

Thank you so much in advance !!

You can either use PKHeX to enable the event flags, or Switch Gift Data Manager to redeem the wondercards in-game.

PKHeX requires you to access your save file. SGDM requires access to the BCAT content.

Either way you need an hacked switch, with the ability to run homebrews such as JKSV (which allows save/bcat dumps).

Note that EmuNand, for the purpose of Pokémon save/bcat editing, is definitely NOT recommended.

Only use SysNand for pokemon-related editings. Save/BCAT editings on Pokémon games is safe until you don't do super sketchy stuff.

SysNand CFW can go online safely until you don't do piracy or online cheating.

For the purpose of RNG, with CFW you can also use tools to track RNG advances and seeds in real time. It makes it easier than using blinks.

Allright, i got a bunch of names from your reply for a decent start but I got no clue on the "how to" part.

So I guess, first off, homebrew my switch with "JKSV" and then start getting the hang of pkhex and or sdgm

The sysnand part is the thing I don't understand, Cfw means custom firmware I assume, but how do I start the modding part ?

Connecting to a pc obviously but what to do first ? Is there a guide that can help me setup my switch for a base to work on ?

See this guide to better understand the modding part https://switch.hacks.guide/

At some point the guide will let you choose EmuNand or SysNand. EmuNand (or EmuMMC) is a simulated partition, separated from the actual internal nand. SysNand (or SysMMC) is the actual nand in which you have your games/saves etc.

Again, EmuNand is absolutely not required nor suggested for the purpose of Pokémon save/bcat editing.

Note that only 2017 Switch consoles can be softmodded. Later models, including all the Switch Lite and Switch OLED models requires an hardmod by soldering a chip into the mother board.

Allright, no idea when my Animal Crossing Switch was made but I will take a look into it.

Thank you so much for the in-detail response!!
