tkdtju Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Ok I just downloaded the Compact Platinum that has access to editing Pal Parked Pokemon and I have a noobish question. If I edit a pokemon say a starly met on Route 201 and I didn't have it before (Fat chance I know considering how common starly is but for arguments sake)So it isnt in my pokedex, If I make it so it appears in Pal Park and I catch it there would it still say it was caught at Route 201 and register in the Pokedex or would it say that it was palparked????
codemonkey85 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Um? So you mean if you (somehow) used Pokesav to capture a Starly in the Pal Park, bearing in mind Starly cannot legally be found there, you want to know where that Starly will show up as "caught at"? Pokémon from the Pal Park typically show up as being either from Kanto or Hoenn, but for Starly, I'm not sure what would happen. You'll probably get a glitched out summary, or perhaps it will say it arrived from Sinnoh. I dunno. Why exactly would you do that anyway? In any case, the Pokémon would be registed in the Pokédex in the same way no matter where you caught it.
tkdtju Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 the reason being is that I would use pokesav to create a pokemon that I didn't have shown as caught in my pokedex and I would load that .pkm file into the pal park and catch it there, and thereby not needing to use PPSE to add a pokedex entry, but at the same time I would want it to be as legit as possible thats why I asked if it would still show as being caught somewhere else. I was just using starly as an example. Though I suppose once I had the pokedex entry in place I could just go back and edit where it was caught in Pokesav again
Guest Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I think Pal Park sets the Pokémon's location to Kanto/Hoenn when it does the conversion between Gen. 3 and Gen. 4. Once the data is loaded into Pal Park, it shouldn't change. If you set the pkm file to have a set location (Ex: Route 201) it shouldn't change. I've never tried, so that's just a basic guessing.
tkdtju Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 yeah but I was thinking about including gen 4 pokemon in doing this 2
codemonkey85 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Once the data is loaded into Pal Park, it shouldn't change. Ah, that would make sense. I'm willing to bet that's how it works. tkdtju, why don't you just add the Pokémon you want to add, and use PPSE to edit the 'Dex? Seems like it would be a lot easier.
tkdtju Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Because Once when I used PPSE and One of my party pokemon a luxray lost most of its stats it was at lvl 85 and it had 78 hp and the rest of its stats were below 50, and no matter what I did it wouldnt get its stats back. so I'm a little skeptical of ppse for now
codemonkey85 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I think if, in that situation, you had deposited your Luxray into the PC and then had withdrawn it again, it would have been fixed. In any case, PPSE is really the best way for you to edit your Pokédex.
