Yes, it really IS possible, but there's more to this than just AR Codes. Still, if you're missing the good old days, here's something that can help. Here are the codes I've found for Gen 5 (all are English versions):

What these codes do is bypass one of the DS's security checks for connecting to the old WFC servers, allowing access to the AltWFC server (and thus, things like the GTS still live on). It's not the only thing you have to do, but it's a necessary step. Also these codes are meant for cartridges only! Emulators (or at least DeSmuMe) lock up when you try to use these codes, so you can't use them on roms (there are other methods for getting them online).

Now if anyone would be nice enough to find or create the codes for other regions, or for the old Gen 4 games, maybe we can collect them in this thread as a handy reference for anyone who wishes to get their old games online again for battling or trading purposes.
