Pokebank proof editing

After a few years of mild disinterest, X and Y got me back into Pokemon in a big way; unfortunately I have lost my previous saves so I had to start again from scratch.

So far, I have completed again Diamond, HeartGold, White and White 2 and now I am making a plan of attack for getting legal version of my favorites (legendary and non) in Gen VI with proper natures/IV/EV/moves without spending horrid amounts of time doing so - which means editing while keeping things legal.

The following is my current plan of attack, informed by a solid couple of weeks reading on the subject; I'd like to ask for opinions/feedback and maybe even be the basis for a guide on the subject for others in my same situation.

Without further ado...

Anything breedable:

Catch in whatever game I need to, for gen IV specific stuff poketransfer to White 2, breed with Ditto and edit as needed afterwards.

Leave PID, OT, Met info as generated by game. Cloning, if needed for different builds, should be a matter of clearing the PID value and having Pokegen create a new one.

Gen IV specific legendaries, non event:

Catch in game to have Met info properly set, edit in Pokegen BEFORE poketransfering to Gen V, using the PID search function (method 1, A-B-C-D) to have a PID matching nature and IV spread; leave Met info alone. For Rayquaza, use action replay codes in SoulSilver to skip to Embedded tower, catch Groudon and transfer to HeartGold with orb for proper catching).

Gen IV specific legendaries, event triggered by in game item (Darkrai, Shaimin, Latios etc):

Use action replay code to get item giver in pokemart, follow normal quest flow and catch as intended. edit catch date to be aroud original item distribution period. Then, work like in previous case. Should I still use method 1 for PID search for these?

Gen IV specific legendaries, distribution only (Jirachi, Deoxys, etc):

Get relevant PKM file from pokedit's database to have ribbons, OT, Met and Pokeball data properly set, inject in Gen IV game save with pokegen, edit as needed before poketransfering to Gen V.

Two questions about this: first, which method should I use for PID search? I heard people saying 10 or 11, anyone has more specific info about this. Second, should I worry about wonder card data? As far as I can tell, poketransfering doesn't retain the info anyway, since it's specific to the cart.

Gen V specific legendaries, non event:

Catch in game to have Met info properly set, edit in Pokegen without altering PID since it should no longer be related to IV spread or personality and those legendaries have the same ability in all cases.

Gen V specific legendaries, event triggered by in game item (Victini only as far as I can tell):

Do as in Gen IV, no need to worry about PID serach in this case. May be safer to do in another game and trade into main save to leave less evidence of tampering for pokebank.

Gen V specific legendaries, distribution only (Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, etc)

Get relevant PKM file from pokedit's database to have ribbons, OT, Met and Pokeball data properly set, inject in Gen IV game save with pokegen, edit as needed before poketransfering to Gen V.

The main issue here is what to do with the PID: while it shouldn't need editing to match other edits, it may be a bad idea to leace the wildly distributed PID from pokedit, since Nintendo may well be checking for them.

Gen IV specific legendaries, event triggered by in game item (Darkrai, Shaimin, Latios etc): They're Method J/K. Don't bother editing the catch date because it's completely irrelevant (you may do it if you feel like it, though) and the catch date would be changed as soon as you PokéTransferred them anyway.

Gen IV specific legendaries, distribution only (Jirachi, Deoxys, etc): Get the Wondercard files themselves and insert them in your save with PokéGen, much less of a hassle.

Gen V specific legendaries, distribution only (Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, etc): I'm assuming this was a copy/paste fail there, but they'd already have to be in Gen. V. Do as above.

I'd suggest using ProjectPokemon's event database for getting event files.

We're going to limit discussion of hacking/editing Pokemon to be transferred to XY through the Transporter/Mover and Bank for now.

It's been stated by official websites (and Masuda) that hacked Pokemon cannot be transferred or will not be allowed to be transferred. Being that this is a paid service, it is likely that there will be a TOS which may or may not include rules regarding hacked Pokemon. If there is such a rule (or if the Transporter service has a thorough hack-check), we won't allow discussion of such a topic in our forums. If there is not such a rule, then we will most likely adopt the same stance that we have already (personal use is okay, tournaments or Wifi battles is not okay), in which case this thread would be fine.

Unfortunately, I'll have to close this thread for now. I'll re-open it after we have more details.

If you want to err on the safe side in your preparations for now: assume that hacked pkm will not be allowed in Bank.
