Woodchuck Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Whenever I try to run Pokegen, I always get this error immediately after I start up the program: I installed Pokegen by downloading the zip file from this thread and unzipping it into a folder in Documents. I've tried multiple ways to get Pokegen into work, including unzipping directly onto the desktop, running it with administrator permissions and with compatibility mode. If it matters, I used 7-Zip to extract it. I'm running a 64-Bit Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2. on a side note, it's kind of strange that you don't have a "Simple Questions, Simple Answers" thread... would probably reduce the number of useless threads I have also downloaded earlier versions of Pokegen to see if they worked, but versions as early as 2.312 would not run either, and I would get the same error. Is it something to do with the language files? I always installed all of the language files in the same directory as the Pokegen program itself; was there something else I was supposed to do? I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I've searched quite a bit and found nothing. Strangely, the only other reference to this problem that I've seen on the Internet has been in Youtube comments... edit: ugh, please this post; I failed to see the 'bugs' subforum i'm very sorry though, it looks like my issue is the same as the apparently resolved one here: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?17001-RESOLVED-3.0b25-crashing but I have the latest version of Pokegen, and as far as I can tell, I have installed it correctly >.>
Woodchuck Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 I'm sorry, but I have provided you with all of the error details that I can. If you mean error details from the Pokegen program, I haven't been able to keep it running long enough to receive any error report of any kind. Again, it's like the issue in this thread: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?17001-RESOLVED-3.0b25-crashing where the program crashes immediately upon startup. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, in which case I hope you can provide clarification!
Codr Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 When a program crashes, it often produces something similar to the following: This is the information that would be helpful.
Woodchuck Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Unfortunately, I'm not given any information like that. This: is the extent of what I get.
Codr Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 This turned out to be a problem with network filtering DLLs on Woodchuck's PC as far as I can tell, for anyone reading. It doesn't appear that PokeGen was at fault.
