Need help making an egg that will hatch

I hope i have the correct forum to post this in. If this isn't the right forum I'm so sorry, I'm new here.

I can make the Caterpie egg in PokeGen and get it into the game but it says "It looks like this Egg will take a long time to hatch." As opposed to what eggs made ingame say. Is there something im doing wrong? I made it as legit as possible but no luck hatching it.

Try setting the 'happiness' to a relatively low number.

Try setting the 'happiness' to a relatively low number.

well the tool tip in pokegen says to multiply the happiness by 256 to get the steps needed to hatch it and serebii.net says caterpie is 3,840 base steps. So I put the happiness at 15 and no luck with that either.
