dsi freezing when loading cheats, help?

ok so i finally got the right game code for pokemon white us version and i put in 1 code from this website to try out, i was kinda mad that my dsi frooze every time i tried to start the game with 1 single cheat, and even when i tried with no cheats, can anyone please help me? alsoif i have toupdate firmware how do i do that?(if i dont dont bother to answer that)

Make sure yo download the correct firmware update for your specific Action Replay.

For those with an Action Replay DS (or Action Replay DS EZ), you will need to update your firmware to version: 1.71.
