On Aug 30, 2010, I started college at LAHC which stands for LA Harbor College here in Southern California and I have been taking Web Designing classes which utilizes the following programs; Dreamweaver CS4, Flash, Fireworks and Photoshop CS4. The first week, my class began to use Dreamweaver CS4, but I wasn't very sure about it. It seemed all confusing and what not, but during the second week, I began to love it. I saw some of my results and I was overwelmed. During that second week, we were givin a project. Our project is to create a practice website and so I chose to create a pokemon website. While still learning on how to utilize this program to my full extent, I will have to study. At first, I thought I wouldn't like using Dreamweaver and quit during the first week, but over time with messing around with the CSS features, it became a lot more user friendly. Even though I am still learning about Dreamweaver CS4, it is still pretty tough.

Anyways, that is why I wasn't on lately.

I created this thread so I can hear about your thoughts about Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, ect whether its Dreamweaver or Photoshop CS3, CS4 or even CS5. So what are your thoughts about these programs?

Dreamweaver is actually really cool, but not much people know how to use it or even bother learning it. It's mainly for creating websites. I would personally prefer Flash (thing is, I don't know how to use it lol) because it's almost the same as Photoshop but it also specialises in animations, etc.

Dreamweaver was kind of confusing at first, but I had some help from my friends and I learned how to use it very quickly. Dreamweaver is actually fun to use once you got the hang of it and it is kind of like a puzzle if you think about it.

Flash is a lot like Photoshop in many ways. If you know how to use Photoshop, then Flash will not be that hard to use. Flash is mainly for animation while Photoshop is for coloring and what not.

However, for animating, I perver using Maya or Zbrush.

When it comes to any form of Sprite Work, MS Paint is where it's at. I have this helpful program I got from a Japanese site that scales images down in color, called "Paddie" (This is useful when I have a color limit, Ie 14 different colors, and my image is 30~. It also helps with doing Sprite-Overs) Then I use MS Paint for everything Else. I find Photoshop usually sucks with spriting, as it has the annoying tendency to make my edges transparent, in attempts to make things look "cleaner" For signature creation it's Photoshop all the way. I need to find some way to get CS5Extended for Free, before my Trial runs out, it's an incredible program. When I first used Photoshop I thought it was terrible, but once I got used to it, it was spectacular.

I might check it out when I have free time at college.

Today I continued my website project and it became a little bit more difficult. I began to study about adding a Navigation Bar, a Tab Menu and a Scroller and it all seemed easy at first glance, I successfully added a Scroller and a Tab Menu, but when adding a Navigation Bar, it was kind of confusing. I then studied about adding a Header and Footer and it was a piece of cake adding it. I sooned began to study about adding a BG Sound and it was kind of confusing too.

My website project is tittled Pocket Monsters: TNG! which is about the next generation of pokemon.

Dreamweaver imo is far my most favorite program that I have used.

Not a whole lot really. You have a Pencil tool, and a Paint Bucket Tool. You have a Brush Tool which is nothing more than a big pencil. A lasso tool, and a square selection tool. Various Shape tools, and that's about the gist of it; which is why it's so good for sprite work. No transparency, none of the annoying features that get in the way of spriting. Just straight up pixels.
